This year end, parents and their children can look forward to many fun-filled and exciting online and on-site activities from the National Library Board (NLB) during the school holidays. 

Online Activities

How Do You Feel? - Storytelling, Writing & Illustration Workshop With Quek Hong Shin

In this one-hour workshop, Hong Shin will read his book Universe of Feelings – a picture book published by Superhero Me, a local ground-up community arts initiative.

Participants will get to explore the many emotions that people experience, and how every one of us expresses our feelings in different ways. There will also be a segment called "Emotions vocabulary" where children get to learn words that describe specific emotions under the broad umbrellas of Happy, Sad, Angry, Calm and Scared. Hong Shin will also guide the children in drawing faces that express how they are feeling.

Reading in the Mother Tongue Languages, while using books that are fun, allows parents to introduce their rich culture and language to their child at a younger age. This is important considering children are currently growing up in a predominantly English language environment.

Melissa, a librarian managing Chinese language books in the public libraries, will introduce must-read Chinese children’s collections and share practical tips in choosing fun Chinese books for parents and children to kick start their reading journey together.

Celebrate Children’s Season 2021 With Former Ford Factory
