Marina Square ushers in the Lunar Year of the Dragon with vibrant festivities and Dragon’s Beard Candy Making Workshops. 

Leap into the Lunar Year of the Dragon as Marina Square kickstarts the Chinese New Year celebrations on 6 January 2024 with prosperous rewards, auspicious activities and traditional performances. Eat, play, shop and soak in the Lunar New Year festivities all under one roof at Marina Square.  

Get Your Zodiac Fortune at the Spring Garden

Join the festivities at the Central Atrium Spring Garden from 12 Jan to 24 Feb 2024. Be captivated by the 12 zodiac characters, each embodying its unique personality, charisma and vitality. Visitors can pose for photos with each zodiac character, stand next to the blush-pink cherry blossom trees and floral-shaped arches. Visitors can also learn about each zodiac character, fortune forecasts and lucky aspects for the new year - all in the spirit of good fun. 

Traditional Performances and Activities

Enjoy a plethora of activities specially curated for the festive celebration. Families can grab the rare opportunity to sign up for the Dragon’s Beard Candy making workshop and witness the award-winning lion dance troupe taking centerstage with breathtaking performances.  

  • Dragon’s Beard Candy Making Workshop & Savour Exclusive Dragon’s Elixirs

Have a sweet start to the Year of the Dragon by participating in Marina Square’s first-ever Dragon’s Beard Candy making workshop and savour Dragon’s Elixirs. Come discover the art of crafting dragon’s beard candies together as a family!

Dragon’s Beard Candy is a traditional Chinese sweet that dates back hundreds of years. It is prepared by hand-pulling firm malt into thousands of delicious, melt-in-the-mouth thin threads resembling its namesake “dragon’s beard”. The workshop is priced at $38 for a single adult or an adult with a child below 12 years old, register for the workshop at Marina Square’s Customer Service Counter. 

Each participant will also receive a complimentary pack of specially designed red packets and Betsubara ice-cream voucher worth $6. 

  • Lion Dance Performance & God of Fortune Appearance 

Venue: Atrium, 
Dates: 21, 28 January & 4 February 2024: 3pm 

Usher in the Lunar New Year with spectacular lion dance performances by Singapore Yiwei Athletic Association. The award-winning local lion dance troupe, made up of performers aged between 13 to mid-20s, has recently done Singapore proud by clinching top spot at the Genting World Lion Dance Championship. Expect a variety of lion dance routines on high poles from the international champions, accompanied by rhythmic beats of drums, gongs and cymbals. 

To spread an abundance of good fortune to all visitors, the God of Fortune will also make a surprise appearance. Be in for a treat as 28 lucky visitors will get to walk away with irresistibly cute plush toys from the God of Fortune.
