Families and young ones can look forward to handcrafted workshops to create auspicious flower blooms, participate in a museum hunt as well as enjoy music and lion dance performances.

This Chinese New Year holiday, bring along your loved ones to the National Museum of Singapore for a day of fun-filled activities! Come down to hunt for artefacts associated with auspiciousness in our galleries. For those who would like a relaxing time, enjoy the music performance or our drop-in activity where you can make a paper flower to take home.

A Lighter Side of History: Heaven, Earth, Man – An Ikebana Workshop

Time: 2 - 4 pm
Price: $80 per pax or $140 per pair (sign up)

Learn to create decorative flower pieces using ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and explore the similarities or differences with the Chinese style of floral art. At the end of the workshop, bring home your own masterpiece to display and show your family and friends!

We Celebrate: Lunar New Year Museum Hunt

Time: 1 - 6 pm
Price: Free (register here)

Put on your detective caps and discover the auspicious symbols associated with the Lunar New Year in this “lucky” hunt, featuring plants and all things red! Complete the hunt to stand a chance to receive a limited-edition red packet from the museum.

Suitable for participants aged 13 and above. Children aged 12 and below are welcome and must be accompanied by parents.

Drop-in Craft Activity: Auspicious Blooms

Time: 10.30am – 11.30am (priority slot for people with disabilities) | 11.30am - 12.30pm, 2 – 5pm (for public)

Get creative with your young ones and craft your own paper floral arrangement to add a dash of joy this festive season! Inspired by the museum’s collection, create your very own decorative vase for your auspicious blooms to welcome in the Lunar New Year!

Lion Dance Performance

Time: 12 - 12.30 pm

What’s Chinese New Year without the festivities of a Lion Dance performance? Catch this energetic performance by He Xin Lion Dance Troupe. Be sure to find a good spot to see them in action!

Music Performance

Time: 4.30 pm - 5 pm

Gather around music lovers! This unique presentation of festive songs is inspired by animals and plants so be sure to listen closely to the lyrics.
