Another weekend, another fun thing to do for families! Mark your calendar for Saturday, 29 August 2026, as the inaugural Little India Street Festival is taking over Campbell Lane and the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) for a one-day-only cultural celebration packed with interactive experiences for parents and kids alike. Discover Little India Through Hands-On Activities

There are plenty of activities to keep them engaged throughout the day. At the Indian Heritage Centre, you can let your little ones get creative with craft activities such as the Shophouse Magnet Painting and Block-Printing from 10am to 6pm. Inspired by Little India’s iconic shophouses and its long history of textile trading, the kids can create their own colourful shophouse magnet and personalised block-print designs to take home.

Also don’t forget to explore the Let’s Try a Trade Travelling Exhibition & Jewellery Making activity. Through five interactive trunks, little ones can discover historical trades that were once an important part of Campbell Lane’s commercial landscape. They can also decorate traditional Indian ornament templates with colourful sequins while learning about ornaments such as the sarpech and attigai.

Catch Cultural Performances Throughout the Day

Beyond the hands-on activities, you can enjoy a full day of community-led music and dance performances at the Indian Heritage Centre from 10am to 6pm. The programme includes Indian classical and folk performances, including Pushpanjali and Kathak, alongside multicultural showcases, including WE Chinese DanceTech and Kelana Purba Singapore. 

You can also catch live music from Infinity, who will perform a mix of classic and contemporary Indian songs. It’s a great opportunity to introduce your kids to different forms of music and dance while experiencing the cultural diversity of Little India.

Want to take home something from your day out? Stop by the Tekka.sg Heritage Bazaar, which features nine curated booths from contemporary businesses and entrepreneurs. From incense sticks, spices and jewellery to textiles, cosmetics, desserts and mithai, the vendors offer modern interpretations of trades and businesses historically associated with Campbell Lane.

No visit to Little India is complete without trying some local eats. At the festival, you can explore street food, snacks, sweets and refreshments from participating LISHA vendors. You’ll find treats and dishes ranging from sweets and kebabs to roti, kunafe, samosas, pani puri, naan, coffee and tea. Food purchases are available throughout the festival, while entry to the festival itself is free.

Don’t Miss the Flower-Garland Giveaway

Start your visit with a little floral touch by stopping by Little India MRT Station North-East Line Exit C between 1pm and 3pm. You can pick up a complimentary miniature pre-tied flower garland before making your way to Campbell Lane for the festival.

Test Your Heritage Knowledge

Think you know your Singapore Indian culture and heritage? Head to the Heritage Quiz at the Narpani Pearavai Booth from 10am to 6pm. The quiz features three levels of questions, and participants who complete all three levels can receive prizes, including kadalai mittai and Narpani Pearavai merchandise.

Join a Kids' Sensory Adventure and Other Fun Activities

For a more immersive experience, you can sign your little ones up for Discover Little India: A Kids’ Sensory Adventure at the Indian Heritage Centre. Taking place from 10.30am to 12pm, this ticketed workshop takes children through three interactive chapters focused on Little India’s textiles, spices and flower-garland tying traditions. Through their five senses, kids can learn more about the precinct’s heritage and cultural identity.

The programme costs $15 per parent-and-child pair, making it an option to consider if you want your child’s visit to Little India to be more hands-on and educational.

The IHC has also curated a line-up of ticketed programmes here. These include a Tanjore Art Workshop, inspired by Little India’s gold jewellery businesses and the traditional practice of parrot astrology, as well as Little India Kids Workshop, where children can engage their senses while learning about the precinct’s textile, spice and flower-garland trades.
