Ayer Ayer Shore Table

Date: 28 May to 14 Jun 2022

Interact with marine debris and learn about the impact of microplastics at the Ayer Ayer Shore Table, an interactive table sculpture presented in partnership with social enterprise, The Ayer Ayer Project.

From 28 May till 14 June 2022, the Ayer Ayer Shore Table confronts audiences with the extent of marine debris in our oceans, aiming to inspire guests to take action and participate in beach clean-ups.

Representing the coastlines of Singapore and Malaysia, the Ayer Ayer Shore Table is embedded with microplastics collected from both countries’ shorelines. Guests can sift through the sandy Shore Table to collect the microplastics, akin to a coastal clean-up. The microplastics collected from the Shore Table can be used to create colourful mosaic artworks that participants can bring home.

Camp participants will have the opportunity to embark on a guided Ocean Protector Trail comprising various missions to help them learn about marine animals at the aquarium. There will also be educational encounters with selected marine animals as well as an upcycling activity to learn how to reduce waste. At the end of the session, participants will get to bring a souvenir home to remember the lessons learnt at camp.

Taking place from Fridays to Sundays from 28 May to 26 June 2022, the Junior Ocean Protector Camp has two sessions a day – one in the morning (9.00am to 1.30pm) and an afternoon session (2.00pm to 6.30pm).
