2024 marks 40 years of Total Defence in Singapore, and this year, families will have the opportunity to visit a Civil Defence Shelter as part of the campaign!

Exercise SG Ready

The inaugural Exercise SG Ready will be held at various locations across the island between 15 Feb to 29 Feb 2024 to increase Singaporeans’ readiness for crises and disruptions. The exercise simulates disruptions of power, water, food supply, digital connectivity and a civil emergency arising from wide spread cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns and drone attacks from an anonymous actor in the region.

Civil Defence (CD) Shelter Open House

As part of Exercise SG Ready, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), with support from the Land Transport Authority, will organise Civil Defence (CD) Shelter Open Houses at 3 MRT stations. These stations are

Dakota (CC8),
Potong Pasir (NE10)
Tan Kah Kee (DT8)

*the stations will remain open during the open house.

Families visiting the open house will see how the stations can be converted in public shelters for civilians during an emergency and to learn more about the protective features of MRT CD Shelters, sheltering procedures and emergency preparedness.

SCDF personnel will also be on the ground to share essential lifesaving skills too!

Open House Tour Details

Guided tours will be conducted at 30-min intervals starting from 10:00am. You can join the tours via the walk-in queue from 10 am onwards. However, do take note that slots are subject to availability (last tour will commence at 3:30pm).

The duration for the entire visit to the open house is about 1 hour. You are advised to arrive at the meeting point of each station (please see below) 10mins before the commencement of the tour.

Tan Kah Kee MRT Station (Downtown Line): Entrance A, Ground Level (First Storey)
Potong Pasir MRT Station (Northeast Line): Entrance C, Concourse Level
Dakota MRT Station (Circle Line): Entrance A, Ground Level (First Storey)

Walk-in - Booking Only Required for Bigger Groups
