Looking for a meaningful family activity this May? Head down to Smith Street in Chinatown from 23 to 25 May 2025 and be part of something special–Chinatown’s first-ever Pasar Charity. It’s not just a marketplace, it’s a heartwarming experience where families can shop, bond, and give back together.
What’s Inside Pasar Charity
Organised by the Chinatown Business Association, Pasar Charity is a vibrant and purpose-driven market designed to support local charities and create a deeper sense of community. It reimagines the traditional “pasar” (market) as a place not just to buy and sell, but also as a platform for social good - uniting charitable organisations, individuals, and the public in a shared space where generosity meets purpose.
Pasar Charity will feature booths run by local charities, social organisations and the public, offering a wide selection of pre-loved treasures, upcycled goods, and meaningful items. Whether one is decluttering with intention or shopping to support a cause, every purchase contributes to a greater mission.
Every dollar spent supports a charitable cause. So while you’re treasure hunting, you’re also teaching your kids the value of compassion and conscious shopping.
More About the Charities
This year’s participating charities represent a diverse range of causes, reflecting the heart of our local communities, such as:
- Here With You: Improves lives of migrant workers in Singapore through emotional support, legal aid, and access to essential services.
- Public Free Clinic: Provides Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) medical care to all in need, ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for the community.
- Presbyterian Community Services: Supports children, youth, families, elderly, persons with disabilities, and low-income households through counselling, care programs, and community initiatives.
- Jamiyah Singapore: Provides shelter, care, and rehabilitation for the elderly and destitute through programmes that focus on holistic support, from healthcare, emotional well-being, to creating a safe haven for those in need.
- Yong-En Care Centre: Supports low-income families and seniors through community- based services, such as daycare, counselling, and financial aid, creating a caring and inclusive community for all.
- Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution: Provides high-quality Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments to the general public, while offering subsidies for lower-income patients.
Together, these organisations form a collective voice for compassion, inclusion, and sustainable change, giving them a platform to share their mission and raise funds in a way that is interactive, transparent, and community focused.
Make this May unforgettable by giving back as a family. Join the Pasar Charity at Chinatown and be part of a community that cares.
