“Bimbang and the Curios Trunk" is a 30-minute storytelling piece that involves music and puppetry.

Audiences will get a hands-on experience in creating a music piece that features several ethnocentric cultural instruments of Singapore and learn to recognise and play in an ensemble.

Synopsis:
Bimbang is a bumbling worrywart who one day chanced upon a trunk of curiosities. In it, he finds a treasure trove of instruments from a time long past. Also in the trunk, a note states that the time of peace and harmony has come to an end, for the music of the land has now become discordant and inharmonious.

Unless the music of the land is played once more, with the help of the people, a terrible fate will be unleashed onto the land. With time running out, Bimbang's endeavours will either bring forth a horrible monster that will consume the land, or a kind creature that will grace the land with peace and harmony.

Along with his friends, Bimbang finds a way to create music again. In this journey, he finds that it is not about playing beautiful individual tunes, but learning to listen to others and find a common rhythm and harmony.

Will Bimbang succeed in saving his land with the right notes, or will he run out of time and unleash the monster of doom?

Witness a magnificent sailboat travelling across the Empress Lawn. Touch, see, hear, feel and create as you go on a pilgrimage through whimsical and playful interactive kinetic installations that take you on a journey through the memories of trees that built Singapore.

Many were once drawn to a place where the winds crossed, where the paths connecting East and West met. There, they traded, made a living, and learned—acquiring knowledge that stretched beyond the borders of their homelands. It was also a safe harbour, as they waited for the monsoon winds to change and carry them onwards to their destinations.

Soon, this place became home, and they reshaped the land to suit their lives. The nurturing trees fed their new ideas and ways of doing things, and with their insatiable and unceasing appetites, the trees made way for a landscape that would be forever changed.
