ParkView @ Bidadari: Boat-Themed Playgrounds Without the Crowds

Set sail on a boat-themed playground adventure where kids can explore, imagine, and play freely by the lake without the crowds!

Location: Bidadari
Date: Daily
Hours: 24hrs (7pm - 7am, park lighting)
Admission: FREE

We love Bidadari Park, but the number of people at the popular Adventure Playwoods playground at peak hours or during the weekend? Admittedly too much for us to handle. So, imagine our delight when we found two playgrounds that are blissfully devoid of crowds!

Located right by Alkaff Lake, these two playgrounds — which cater to different age groups — naturally take on a boat theme. Built on the former grounds of Alkaff Lake Gardens, the playgrounds use natural materials and soothing colours to form a living tribute to nature. Even the plants here are those that were once found near the lake!

Be a Boat Captain for A Day

The Petite Lake Playground is built for toddlers. Give the steering wheel to listen to sounds like the ship’s horn! The boat is surrounded by fish, setting up the scene for a pretend sea voyage. At the back of the boat, a gentle slide awaits.

There are lots of interactive boards to play with — we counted seven in total! Don’t miss out on the tactile trail, which is best experienced barefoot.

Ready to Level Up?

PSA: more boat captains needed at the bigger Lakehouse playground! Here, you’ll find a larger boat structure built for older kids.

Let your kids’ imagination go wild here: use the telescope to look for pirates appearing over the horizon, and gear up for a swashbuckling adventure.

The fish and frog motifs, alongside the lilypads, are so gorgeous!

Grab a play buddy, and have a mini competition with these racing fishing poles. Turn the handle, and see which pole can light up first.

Traipse Over to Alkaff Lake

A bridge next to the Lakehouse playgrounds leads to a pavilion overlooking Alkaff Lake. This isn’t any normal bridge, mind you; it has elevated hopping platforms as well as bouncy and netted sections for a little extra pizazz.

What to Bring

Don’t forget to bring mosquito repellent! Your bag should also contain wet tissues, a water bottle, and sunscreen. Snacks are a bonus; however, Woodleigh Mall is just a short walk away should you or the kids get peckish.

Our Experience

When we were there, the pathway leading to Bidadari Park was blocked by construction. Hopefully it’ll open up soon! Otherwise, we had a lovely time and pretty much had the playgrounds all to ourselves — even on a Sunday evening. However, the playgrounds are situated right next to a preschool, so they might get more crowded on weekday evenings.

There’s also a pavilion in between the playgrounds for families to take a breather.

Location

You’ll find ample parking at the multi-storey carpark located at Block 233A. Alternatively, the playgrounds can be reached within six minutes on foot from Woodleigh MRT station.
