An impromptu bus ride to the eastern part of Singapore on one of our recent “Mommy and Baby” day outs landed us at the North East Community Toy Library @ Pasir Ris Elias Community Club.
This toy library is also Singapore’s first inclusive play space that is designed to encourage play between typical and atypical children.
Places to go this Weekend: Little Planet Playland (BYKidO Moments)
To my pleasant surprise, the library was practically empty that day, except for us and another two toddlers with their caregivers.
I loved that the place was clean, comfortable and more importantly, very conducive for babies and toddlers.
The library features an impressive collection of toys that are neatly categorized to tailor to the different age groups, as well as those that are specially customized for children with special needs.
This section mainly comprises developmental toys, such as flashcards, cars and trucks.
Complete with LEGO sets, threading toys, and wooden puzzles, this section will be suitable for the older kids.
There’s also a section that’s particularly catered to the younger ones (between 0 to 3 years). Consisting mostly of musical instruments and cause-and-effect toys, it was no wonder Baby L found himself naturally drawn to this corner of the library.
With so many musical instruments to entertain himself with, Baby L was certainly spoilt for choice =D
Nonetheless, by the looks of it, I think he enjoyed the xylophone the most!
The play kitchen is also one of Baby L’s favourites =)
My little chef cooking up a storm =P
Finding some quiet downtime in a little playhouse he found at the corner of the library.
Shh…it’s baby chill out time.
Oh yes, the kiddos will be happy to know that there’s a mini slide and a swing located at the other end of the library as well =)
Loving the thrill of going down the slide!
The library is also equipped with activity tables, where your LOs can engage themselves with tasks, such as puzzle solving and LEGO building.
Toy cars are also available in the library for the young ones to push and ride on.
The toy library is a great place to hang out and bond with your LO through fun and play. Both Baby L and I had an enjoyable time together and we look forward to coming back here more often =)
