ACM & ME: A New Family-Friendly Space at ACM
The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) has launched ACM & ME, an all-new interactive gallery space specially designed for families! Opening 23 May 2025, this vibrant play area brings together art, culture, and creativity in a fun and accessible way that encourages children to explore, imagine, and express themselves.
Thoughtfully designed by local art collective Arterly Obsessed, the space is full of colourful, playful motifs that spark curiosity and joy—perfect for young explorers and their grown-ups.
Three Fun Zones to Explore
ACM & ME is divided into three themed zones, each offering exciting, hands-on activities that help children learn more about themselves, their stories, and the world around them—through play!
Who am I?
This zone encourages children to explore their identity through creative expression. Kids can design self-portraits using paper templates and stamps, then add them to a vibrant community art wall. There's also a magnetic play station where little ones can decorate their reflections in a mirror with whimsical shapes and accessories. A life-size landscape with pagoda silhouettes—drawn from ACM’s Pagoda Odyssey 1915 exhibition—serves as a playful backdrop for imagination to take flight.
What’s my story?
Kids become storytellers in this zone inspired by myths and everyday life. At the Fantastic Creatures station, children create imaginative animals using colourful acrylic body parts and bring them to life using nostalgic overhead projectors. Nearby, the Everyday Stories station lets them spin reusable mats and watch simple animations come to life—featuring scenes from 18th-century Canton and modern-day Singapore.
What can I create?
This final zone is all about movement, music, and building together. Families can dance and watch as colourful lights turn their movements into magical overlapping shadows. There’s also a soft play area with oversized building blocks and padded flooring where young children can safely build, climb, and explore their creativity through physical play.
A Thoughtful, Inclusive Space for Families
ACM & ME is more than just a play area—it’s a space designed to support emotional wellbeing and meaningful family moments. Each zone includes reflective prompts developed in collaboration with the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) to encourage simple, thoughtful conversations between parents and children.
ACM will also partner with SAMH to run six wellbeing workshops inspired by themes in the space, helping families connect even more deeply through creativity and shared experiences.
Community Weaving Wall
As you exit the gallery, don’t miss the community weaving wall, where kids and adults can choose a coloured strip of cloth—repurposed from unwanted clothing—to represent how they feel. These strips become part of a shared, evolving artwork that also makes for a perfect photo backdrop to end your visit.
Designed for All Ages and Needs
The space is open to visitors of all ages, and has been thoughtfully planned with families in mind. It accommodates up to 60 people at a time, and is stroller-friendly and safe for young children, with features like padded flooring, comfortable seating, and a Calm Corner—a sensory-friendly space for anyone who needs a quiet break.
More Fun This June Holidays – Children’s Season 2025
From 31 May 2025, families can enjoy even more activities as part of The World We Make: Children’s Season at ACM. Expect interactive performances, themed trails, and hands-on craft activities designed to inspire creativity and discovery throughout the June holidays.

ACM & ME opens 23 May 2025 at the Asian Civilisations Museum’s Contemporary Gallery. Entry is free for all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents—so bring the whole family for a meaningful day of art, play, and connection!
To ensure a comfortable experience for all, ACM will be introducing timed entry slots with advanced booking for visits to the space on Fridays - Sundays from 6 Jun 2025. Walk-in visits will only be applicable on Mondays - Thursdays.
Each booking is for a 50 mins slots from 10.30 am onwards with a 10 min reset time in-between slots. Bookings are only required for visits on Fri to Sun and can be booked here.
Do note that socks are required at the carpeted and soft play areas. Children under 12 must wear grip socks (pre-walking baby are excluded).
