Grocery shopping has received a playful upgrade this Lunar New Year. FairPrice Group has teamed up with local entertainment brand Play Nation to launch Xtra Play Market, a new store-in-store concept. Designed to turn routine errands into an "unboxing" adventure, this space is filled with blind boxes, exclusive toys, and interactive spots for children and "kidults" to explore while parents shop.
Bringing Fun to the Supermarket
Housed within selected FairPrice Xtra stores across Singapore, the concept brings together a curated mix of blind boxes, exclusive toys and collectibles, and interactive touchpoints designed to engage kids, adults and all ages in-between!
From well-loved global franchises like Sanrio and Care Bears to uniquely local creations, Xtra Play Market invites shoppers to explore, play, and indulge in their sense of curiosity – turning routine grocery runs into moments of surprise, joy, and reward.
The Interactive "Abalone Canning" Experience
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Xtra Play Market is hosting a first-of-its-kind Abalone Market Plush Experience. This quirky, family-friendly ritual lets children dive into a "seafood bed" to find their favourite Abalone Darlings (affectionately known as 鲍鲍 or Bao Bao).
These plush key rings come in six auspicious designs, such as longevity and love. The characters can also open their hands and link together in a nod to family reunions.

Choose a Character: Pick a plushie that either hugs a gold nugget or even a broccoli that signifies various CNY blessings. 6 designs to choose from!

Help Clean and Cook: Join the staff and help "clean" and "cook" your Abalone Darling.

Seal the Can: The team will help you to seal the can using a manual sealing machine to "can" the plushie into a specially designed container.

Personalise: Use blessing-themed stickers to decorate the can, making it a unique keepsake or a fun gift for relatives.

Head specifically to FairPrice Xtra Ang Mo Kio. While blind boxes are available at other Xtra Play Market outlets, the interactive canning station is exclusive to the AMK Hub location. It is a fantastic way to keep kids occupied and engaged during the busy CNY shopping period!
