Here's a list of new family movies hitting the big screen in 2022! Time to take note of what you want to watch with the kids this year.

Despite the popularity of streaming services, there is a certain draw about going to the cinema to catch a movie. Perhaps it is the surround sound, total darkness or just being out of the house. If you are looking forward to heading to the cinema, here's a list of family-friendly movies scheduled be released in Singapore in 2022!

1. Uncharted  

 

A treasure hunter named Nathan Drake, a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, believes he has found the location of the legendary El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city. With the help of his mentor and an ambitious journalist, he works to uncover its secrets while surviving on an island filled with pirates and mercenaries. When a mysterious enemy joins the search, it quickly becomes competitive.

2. Sumikkogurashi: The Little Wizard In The Blue Moonlight

 

 

The Sumikkos go on a camping trip one day. That night, they recall a legend that once every five years - on the night of a large and blue full moon - magical creatures will descend. And indeed, they meet the five legendary wizard brothers - Wan, Tsuu, Surii, Foh, and Faibu - when the wizards arrive on the night of the blue full moon. New adventures await the Sumikkos and their new friends.

3. Fireheart 

Sixteen-year-old Georgia Nolan dreams of being the world's first-ever female firefighter. When a mysterious arsonist starts burning down Broadway, New York's firemen begin vanishing. Georgia's father, Shawn, is called out of retirement by the Mayor of New York to lead the investigation into the disappearances. Desperate to help her father and save her city, Georgia disguises herself as a young man called "Joe" and joins a small group of misfit firefighters trying to stop the arsonist.

A young autistic boy has a rare brittle-bone disease. However, what makes him truly unique is his joyous, funny and life-affirming world views that transforms and unites everyone around him.

5. Dog

Army Ranger Briggs and Lulu, a Belgian Malinois army dog, buckle up to race down the Pacific Coast in the hopes of making it to a fellow soldier`s funeral on time. Along the chaotic road trip, they drive each other completely crazy, break a small handful of laws, narrowly evade death, and learn that you have to let your guard down if you want to find happiness.

6. The Bad Guys

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf, seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake, chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark, short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula, aka “Webs.” 

But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good. 

Under the tutelage of their mentor Professor Marmaladean arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for: acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become … The Good Guys?

8. Sonic The Hedgehog 2

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

A story of friendship and learning about oneself, the movie will be a hit with the little ones (even those who may not have met Sonic before)! To add to the experience, families may also wish to take note of the following meet & greets happening to promote the show.

10. The Price of Parenting

13. Even Mice Belong In Heaven 

A film about two mortal enemies - a little mouse Whizzy and Whitebelly the fox, who after an unfortunate accident, meet in animal heaven. They lose their natural instincts and become best friends. Their wish to stay together after they return to earth comes true, but they are reborn into opposite roles. Thanks to the power of friendship, they can even overcome what seems to be impossible.

14. DC League Of Super-Pets

Crime doesn`t stop while the superheroes are on vacation! When Superman takes some time off for a holiday, his pet dog Krypto forms the League of Super-Pets to defend the innocent people against unjust crime. 15. Blazing Samurai

Hank, a loveable dog with a head full of dreams about becoming a samurai, sets off in search of his destiny. 17. Minions: The Rise of Gru

Growing up in the 1970s, Gru is a fanboy of Vicious 6, a supervillain supergroup led by legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. When the group oust their leader, Gru decides this is his chance to join them. Together with his loyal Minions, Kevin, Stuart, Bob and newcomer Otto, he builds their first lair. He and his Minions also experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions. Unfortunately for Gru, he fails to impress Vicious 6 during his interview with them and only succeeds in becoming their mortal enemy instead. Now Gru, realising that even bad guys need help from their friends, has no choice but to turn to an unlikely ally, Wild Knuckles, in order to save himself.
