Explore the stories and collection of the National Museum of Singapore as they organise a series of onsite programmes for families this June Holiday!

As part of it's June Holiday Family Fun programmes, the National Museum of Singapore is organising a series of onsite programmes for families. These programmes will bring you through the museum as well as the special exhibits - Home, Truly and Picturing the Pandemic!

The June Holiday Family Fun onsite activities may be converted online, depending on the prevailing Covid-19 safe management guidelines. If you prefer, you may also take part in the online June Holiday Family Fun programmes that the Museum has prepared for the holidays!

Home in the Museum: A Treasure Hunt [SELF-GUIDED ACTIVITY]

Date5 – 27 Jun | Estimated duration: 2 hrs
Starting point: Glass Atrium, Level 2

Suitability: 7 yrs and up


Dennis the Otter and his family need to find a new home! What has happened, and where can they go? Embark on this quest to find them a new home in the museum, and meet various museum employees in the process to uncover behind-the-scenes stories of their work.

This is a self-facilitated treasure hunt. Participants should obtain their gallery admission tickets at the Visitor Services counter on Level 1 before proceeding to the starting point. You will need a mobile device with Internet access, and are advised to set aside two hours to complete the hunt!

Artefact Highlights: Show and Tell

Date: 20 Jun (Sun) | 2.30 – 3.15pm, 23 Jun (Wed) | 2.30 – 3.15pm, 27 June (Sun) | 2.30 – 3.15pm

Get a glimpse into what growing up in the 1980s and ’90s was like, through Singapore’s currency series and electronics. In this experiential session, you will be introduced to some of our handling objects by our passionate Museum Host volunteers.

A Time Immemorial Creative Workshop

Date: 17 Jul (Sat) | 2.30 – 5.30pm
Venue: Gallery Theatre, Basement Level
Fees: $100 per adult-child pair (SRV-redeemable)
Suitability: 7 yrs and up


A fun-filled afternoon of artistic expression beckons! First, experience a tour of the WAS I HERE art installation conducted by artist Francis Ng. Then, explore the concepts of presence, identity and space through taking Polaroid pictures and creating a 3D cast using plaster of Paris. View full details of the installation and workshop here.

Participants are encouraged to bring a small 3D personal object (maximum size of 3cm x 3cm x 3cm), to create your plaster of Paris cast with.

Recess Time Memories: A Lunchbox-Making Workshop

Date: 17 Jul (Sat) | 10.30am – 12pm & 3.30 – 5pm
Venue: The Salon, Level 1
Fees: $20 per adult-child pair, each pair will be given one set of ingredients and materials to make your own lunchbox
Suitability: 4 yrs and up


For many of us, recess time is one of our favourite times of the school day! What are some of your fondest memories of recess time? How did you and your parents/ grandparents spend most of your recess times? Were they spent eating food from your favourite canteen stall, engaging in a country eraser battle with your classmates or playing in the field?

Turn your memories of recess time into an irresistible lunchbox! Join Clare of @snackboxdiaries and learn techniques to prepare and assemble your very own recess time memories lunchbox.

Each $20 ticket admits one child and one adult (parent or grandparent) only. Please purchase additional tickets (no additional materials provided) for any family members aged 2 years and above:

  • For grandparent: $5/ticket
  • For parent or child: $7/ticket

Dough-It-Yourself Curry Puff Workshop

Date: 18 Jul (Sun) | 10.30 – 12pm & 2.30 − 4pm

Fees: $15 per adult-child pair, all ingredients and equipment provided
Suitability: 4 yrs and up 


How much do you know about the modest curry puff eaten during our festive seasons and as a mid-day snack? Join Bakery Brera to find out more and learn how to fold your own curry puffs from different types of dough. Participants will also get to take home a set of cooked curry and sardine puffs from the bakery at the end of the workshop.

Please note that no pork or lard is used in this workshop. Families are encouraged to bring your own lunchboxes to store the uncooked and cooked curry and sardine puffs.
