If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend time with your family this New Year, ACM Adventures: Hear Me Roar invites you to step into a world of courage, culture, and creativity at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Taking place on Sunday, 25 January 2026, this free family-friendly programme is designed to immerse you in stories and traditions inspired by the majestic lion.

What’s in ACM Adventures: Hear Me Roar

It’s time to let out your thunderous roar to welcome and celebrate the new year with strength, spirit, and stories with the majestic lion. From the moment you arrive, you’re encouraged to explore, move, create, and imagine. Whether you’re visiting with young children or simply young at heart, you’ll find activities that spark curiosity and joy throughout the day.

Enjoy a lively lion dance, take part in interactive drama and storytelling sessions, and have fun with hands-on craft inspired by these magnificent creatures. Here are all the programme highlights that you can look forward to:

Get Crafty! Create Your Lion

Venue: Lobby, Level 1
Time: 11am—4pm
Admission: Free

Create your own roaring companion! Transform a brown paper bag into a colourful lion puppet and decorate it with rainbow crepe paper, bouncy pom pom balls, and sparkly stickers. Then bring your puppet to life with dance and play!

Suitable for ages 4 and above. While supplies last.

Move it! Drama Performance

Venue: River Room, Level 
Time: 11:30am, 2pm
Admission: Free

Join Zip Zap Zoom Collective for an interactive performance to kick off the new year! Help Mei face the legendary beast Nian using your voice, rattle drums, and red steamers as you discover the origins of the colourful lion dance tradition.

Suitable for ages 4 and above

Story Time in the Galleries!

Venue: Ancient Religions Gallery, Level 2
Time: 1.30pm
Admission: Free

Gather around storyteller Hafiz Rashid for an enchanting journey through lion-inspired tales! Discover captivating stories of courage and majesty, inspired by the Seated Lion on display.

Suitable for ages 4 and above. Gallery admission required.

Roaring Fun: Lion Dance Performance and Free Play

Time: 3pm-4pm
Performance: ACM Green
Free Play: River Room, Level 2

Watch lions leap and prance on stilts in a spectacular performance! Then join a free play session in the River Room to learn the graceful movements of lion dancing, try on colourful lion costumes, and drum along with our performers.

Suitable for all ages.

ACM & Me: Surprise Keychain Redemption

Snag a surprise keychain inspired by fantastic creatures in the galleries! Earn stamps with every visit to ACM & Me, and look out for bonus stamps when you join ACM adventures or complete exciting hunts in the galleries.
