The Museum Roundtable kicks off it's 25th anniversary with a series of mystery museum tours this September! Limited slots available only!

The Museum Roundtable, comprising of over 60 public and private museums, is rolling out a series of Mystery Museum Tours which will take place each weekend from 4 to 26 September 2021, and will take the public on a journey of exploration through selected museums in Singapore, including lesser-known ones.
What Is A Mystery Museum Tour?
No, it is not about solving a mystery! These tours are organised in collaboration with 10 MR members, and you won't know where you will be visiting when you purchase the tour! You will be informed of a theme of the tour and dates, and the actual museum that you are visiting is only revealed on the day of your visit!
Even the meeting point of the tour will be at a public space, eg a MRT Station!
There are a total of 34 tours with a maximum capacity of 10 pax per tour only. Thus the tours are expected to be popular and available to the fastest-fingers-first!
Mystery Museum Tour Themes
The tours will be based around three themes of “Fashion Confessions”, “Mythical Creatures” and “Hidden Secrets”. Let us share what you can expect at each of these themes!
Fashion Confessions (two routes)
Tour duration: 2.5 - 3 hours
Tour format: Bus tour with visit to two mystery museums (includes guided tour and hands-on activities during the bus ride and at the museums)
Tour ticket fees: $20 per person
Look for your next runway inspiration as this tour brings you through the fashion artefacts on display in some of Singapore’s museums, and showcases the history of fashion and its cultural significance in Asia. Participants will learn about the stories, significance and craftsmanship behind fashion artefacts, such as garments, headpieces, jewellery and other accessories, and explore the ways in which these artefacts empower identities and strengthen community ties.
Each bus tour will include guided tours and hands-on activities conducted during the bus ride as well as onsite at participating museums. Tour participants will receive a special 25th anniversary gift bag from the Museum Roundtable, and might even have the chance to win a Museum Label prize during the tour!
Mythical Creatures
Tour duration: 2.5 - 3 hours
Tour format: Bus tour with visit to two mystery museums (includes guided tour and hands-on activities during the bus ride and at the museums)
Tour ticket fees: $20 per person
Prepare for a magical adventure as this tour brings you on a search for fantastic creatures hidden within Singapore’s museums. Participants will learn about the practices and beliefs behind the deities and protective guardians in South and Southeast Asian myths, and the significance of these mythical characters in their respective cultures and communities.
Each bus tour will include guided tours and hands-on activities conducted during the bus ride as well as onsite at participating museums. Tour participants will receive a special 25th anniversary gift bag from the Museum Roundtable, and might even have the chance to win a Museum Label prize during the tour!
Hidden Secrets
Tour duration: 1 - 1.5 hours
Tour format: Guided tour of one mystery museum (includes hands-on activities)
Tour ticket fees: $10 per person
Get ready for exclusive behind-the-scenes access, and a more intimate look into the inner workings and hidden spaces of some of Singapore’s museums. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with exhibit repair specialists, paper conservators, museum guides and gemologists to discover the secrets of their trades. The guided tours will also allow participants to learn from the experts about how artefacts are conserved, handled and displayed, and even get a chance to have some hands-on experience!
There will be 5 different Hidden Secret Tours at 5 different museums!

Hidden Secrets Tour A: Learn more about the gem identification process, and how the identities of gemstones can be determined before being
exhibited. - Hidden Secrets Tour B: Hear from a professional archives conservator, who will share more on and demonstrate conservation practices.
- Hidden Secrets Tour C: Hear from an exhibit repair specialist on how wax figure displays are created, restored and maintained.
- Hidden Secrets Tour D: Get a sneak peak of lesser-known stories from a hospital with 111 years of history, and join in the search for obscure artefacts with Chinese traditional significance.
- Hidden Secrets Tour E: Gain special access to usually restricted areas of the museum and discover the hidden stories behind the building!
Tickets and Schedules
