Get Moving Together with Free Weekend Workouts

Kickstart your weekends with Gerak-Gerak Geylang, a series of free group fitness sessions held every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 10am. Designed for all ages and fitness levels, these sessions feature low-impact EasiRobics with Coach Wan and energizing Zumba with crowd-favorite Coach Liz.

It’s the perfect way for your whole family to stay healthy and bond—while having loads of fun!  

Enjoy Local Arts and Culture with Riuh Seni

After a day of exploring, slow things down and unwind together at Riuh Seni, held every weekend evening from 5pm to 6pm. These free performances transform public spaces into mini-stages, featuring music, dance, and cultural showcases that celebrate Singapore’s creativity and diversity.

Bring the kids, sit back, and soak up the sights and sounds of homegrown talent.

Celebrate the Best of Malay Music and Theatre


On 10 May, don’t miss
Muzikita, where you can groove to classic retro Malay hits performed with a modern twist by The East Coast Rockers and Atrika Dance Company. Hosted by Amy Kecik, there will be non-stop live performances of classics like Khayalan, Penyanyi, and Joget Bunga Melati. It's a musical celebration your whole family can enjoy together! 

Muzikita is designed to bring music closer to the community, Muzikita highlights both traditional and contemporary talents, reaffirming WGS' commitment to supporting homegrown artistry. From heartfelt ballads to infectious joget beats, this musical journey will spotlight celebrated local musicians and dancers, all paying tribute to the timeless sounds of the past.

Later in the month, on 17 May, experience the traditional Malay theatre of Sari Derhaka, a special performance in the traditional purbawara style of Malay theatre. In this vibrant adaptation of Megat Terawis, this rarely-seen format breathes new life into cultural storytelling traditions, offering audiences a deeper appreciation of Malay heritage through expressive drama, music, and movement.

Cheer on Young Creatives and Aspiring Writers

On 24 May, support the next generation of storytellers at the Sayembara Bisikan Pena showcase. You’ll hear powerful poems and creative writing pieces from young talents who’ve been mentored through this inspiring literary programme. It’s a great way to spark creativity in your kids and encourage them to express their own voices.

Ride Through Heritage with Cyclation #SG60Bersama

Join fellow families on 25 May for Cyclation #SG60Bersama, a community cycling event celebrating Singapore’s 60th year of independence. Ride through the Geylang Serai precinct as you explore its rich history and local charm. Discover the vibrant history and everyday beauty of the neighbourhood while promoting wellness and connection. Pre-registration is required for participation.

Wrap Up May with Hands-On Cultural Workshops

Close the month with Jijok Angin, a two-day celebration on 31 May showcasing Malay performing arts. Take part in interactive workshops and enjoy live performances featuring dance (Seni Tari), choral performance (Dikir Barat), and poetry (Sajak).
