Before you pack your bags to sail with Disney Cruise Line, discover the fun guest-led traditions that will make your cruise truly magical for you and your kids
Disney Cruise Line is coming to Singapore for the first time ever this March 2026, and we couldnât be more excited! For even more fun, did you know that there are some awesome guest-led traditions to take the whole experience up a notch?
1. Decorate Your Doors
Trust us when we say that guests go all out with this one. Get your magnets ready: stateroom doors are magnetic, and the use of of blue tack or scotch tape is strictly prohibited. Buy some magnets online or, even better, make your own. A nifty home hack is to print your favourite images out, laminate, cut, and attach magnets to the back.
Tip: Download all kinds of images from this amazing Disney graphics Facebook group. The group is filled with tons of free-to-download images contributed by designers. Weâre floored by the designersâ sheer creativity and overwhelming generosity! Be sure to abide by the groupâs rules too, which you can find under the âfeaturedâ tab.
Get your magnets sorted early, and you can even use them as fab room decor before your cruise. Decorating the door together with your little ones (whether pre-cruise at home or during the cruise itself) is so much fun, and it makes for such a great bonding activity!Â
2. Join Your Cruiseâs Facebook Group
Simply do a quick search on Facebook to find and join your date-specific cruise group. This is a wonderful way to get to know the group that youâll be sailing with! Feel free to make friends, and ask any questions you may have.
3. Join a Fish Extender Exchange
Sign up for an anonymous fish extender exchange organised through the Facebook groups around six to eight months before each cruise. Think of it like Secret Santa, but on a cruise-wide level. There are different categories: general, magnet, ornament, socks, adults/kids only⌠the list goes on.Â
Tip: Each category requires a different monetary commitment, so only join if you are up for it! Weâve joined the general, sock, and magnet exchanges for our cruise, and canât wait to see what weâll get in return.
4. Pixie Dust Your Way Around the Ship
Spread the magic by prepping little gifts to drop into fish extenders hung outside staterooms. For the uninitiated, fish extenders refer to hanging wall organisers. Theyâre called fish extenders as Disney cabin doors have a fish hook outside each door (at least for the older ships), and these organisers are hung there to âextendâ their capacity.
Tip:Â If you donât have a fish extender, you can always use any kind of tote bag.
You can include anything from stickers, light sticks, temporary tattoos, mini bottles of hand sanitiser⌠The skyâs the limit, itâs entirely up to you! Many guests also include a note with their stateroom number, as recipients often like to reciprocate with a thank you gift.
Itâs lots of fun to roam the halls during your downtime to drop off your gifts. Plus, youâll get to check your own fish extender for surprises at the end of the day!
