This September school holiday, Science Centre Singapore and its group of attractions have lined up a series of fun and edutaining activities to enjoy at the Centre and from home!

1. Winter Shooting Arena

Target Audience: 14 years old and above

The newly launched Winter Shooting Arena is the latest addition to the snow and winter experience at Snow City Singapore! Run, duck and slide through this unique, fun and exhilarating winter course, and even battle it out in a game of paintball!

The arena is operated by a dedicated team of professionals with more than 20 years of shooting and coaching experience who will be onsite to guide guests through this sub-zero arena experience. Strap a safety vest, wear a face mask, put on a pair of elbow and knee protectors, and get ready to put your teamwork and precision skills to the test as you take down various coloured targets in a snow field with your family and friends.

Target Shooting

Are you a certified marksman? Load your paintball markers and get ready to shoot your targets. Better yet, challenge your family and friends and be the first to knock down all 12 targets within the shortest time.

Close Quarter Battle

Form a team of two to five players, and hit your opponent’s target across the snow field! May the best team win!

2. Living Worlds: An Animal Planet Experience Exhibition

Back for a limited time only, the Living Worlds: An Animal Planet Experience Exhibition is the world’s first traveling wildlife and exploration exhibition created and produced by Kingsmen. Made in collaboration with Discovery Inc. and Science Centre Singapore, this traveling exhibition is the first edutainment exhibition that explores the interdependent relationship between animals and the environments they inhabit through bespoke multimedia interactives and never-seen-before footage to narrate stories of the natural world.

The exhibition also leverages the latest technology to captivate visitors with unique immersive experiences and interactive play elements, while fostering environmental consciousness.

3. We Are Stars

4. Butterflies Up-Close

Dance with the butterflies at Singapore’s first indoor butterfly enclosure, where humidity and temperature are carefully regulated to ensure that plants and butterflies can thrive. Dance with beautiful butterflies* from Singapore and around the region!

7. Asia Drone Championship 2020

Singapore’s first official drone racing event is going virtual this year! Jointly organised by Science Centre Singapore and MultiRotor Association Singapore, the Asia Drone Championship is a thrilling drone racing e-sport spectacle that features top-tier drone racers and pilots from the Asia Pacific region.

All competitors will battle on a specially designed virtual track to vie for attractive cash prizes (worth up to $5,000) in either International Open Race Category or Singapore Student Race Category. Presented in an e-sports format, this virtual race event brings the same level of excitement and competition, creating a whole new unique experience for both racer and e-sports enthusiast alike!

In addition, freestyle pilots can submit their creative flying pieces to stand a chance at winning a prize. Interested racers or pilots may register here before 12 September 2020.

8. National Robotics Competition 2020

Students looking to put their coding and robotics skills to the test should not miss out on this annual National Robotics Competition that has gone fully digital for the first time ever this year with three exciting categories (including two new challenges) to compete in with other young and bright minds across Singapore:

    • World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Open Category

Open to all levels, this category aims to develop participants’ creativity, design and problem-solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities.

Open to primary, secondary and post-secondary levels, this new coding challenge test participants’ creativity, design and problem-solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities.

Join this online workshop to be fasciNATUREd by Mother Earth and how everything in its ecosystem is intertwined!

Learn how we manage our resources sustainably and come up with creative ways to upcycle a plastic bottle. Facilitated by a Science Educator, this workshop offers a live, online experience and comes complete with an interactive activity kit. Our class size is kept to only 20 participants (maximum) to allow better interaction and more individual attention for each participant.

Explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) topics with self-directed activities across more than 10 different Young Scientist badges, including the popular I am a Young Zoologist, I am a Young Botanist, I am a Young Food Scientist and I am a Young Geologist badges. Simply complete the assigned activities to earn your badge and certificate, which will be presented at an official award ceremony in September 2020.

In partnership with the Temasek Foundation, the online programme now features a complimentary I am a Young Sustainability Champion badge for both primary and secondary school students. Through the curated activities, students can learn more about renewable energy and responsible food consumption.
