7 Kids-friendly Programs You Should Check Out at the Singapore Night Festival

Packed with a plethora of exuberant performances, brilliant installations and fascinating storytellers, this year’s Singapore Night Festival has much to offer. And if you’re wondering what’s great for the kids among the multitude of happenings, we’ve got you covered!

Without further ado, here’s 7 kids-friendly programs you should check out with the little ones at the festival!

1. Keep Dreaming by Spectaculaires

Keep Dreaming by Spectaculaires brings you on a whimsical journey full of intrigue. The National Museum of Singapore brings to life a fantasy wonderland with the awakening of three mysterious creatures. Bring your little ones along to awe this wondrous combination of sound, light and theatrical scenery!

2. Waves of Time by Chips and Toon & The Electric Canvas

Waves of Time follows the journey of the Prince who sailed across the seas, chasing his dream to and around our island. This façade projection is a great way to introduce your toddlers Singapore’s very own popular legend about a Prince who once landed on our little red dot after a turbulent journey!

3. Sk(r)etch by Ca Kway Teow x 3M

Defacing an artwork is a big no-no but that’s not the case with Sk(r)etch, where you’re encouraged to do so. To be more precise, you’re encouraged to scratch off a part of the paint to reveal a mosaic of bright colors and patterns that come together to tell Singapore’s story. So be sure to bring along your child (and by that we also mean your inner child)!

4. Project:Dome – OCISLY by Lawrence Loh & Sebastien Jurkowski

Another installation where you’ll get to leave your mark at is Project:Dome – OCISLY but this time round you won’t be doodling on it. Scan the OCISLY QR code with your mobile device, create a unique emoticon and release it to populate the evolving atmosphere of the dome.

5. S.C.U.L.P.T by Yann Nguema

S.C.U.L.P.T by Yann Nguema is more than just a beautiful projection mapping accompanied with a soundscape. Through simple laser beams, you can actually manipulate the form and appearance of the artwork, morphing it into another form! Little ones can have fun with the artwork as it pushes the bounds of their imagination!

6. Sita’s Magical Forest by Apsaras Art

The Ramanyana, one of India’s major epics, tells the trials and triumphs of Ram and Sita. In this kids-friendly production that combines dance with storytelling, Sita weaves her tale of adventures with the animals in the magical forest, such as an eagle, a bear, a sea monster, a golden deer, Hanuman and his band of monkeys.

7. MMO by Sweet Tooth

MMO, otherwise known as the Mystical Meandering Occurences are three ethereal mascots taking on the mythical and physical characteristics of the planets and other-worldly beings. Keep an eye out for them with your little ones for they’ll not just be roaming the streets but they’ll also burst into spontaneous performances along walkways and alleys!
