About Founder of Popo’s Kitchen
Jasmine Foo, the founder of Popo’s Kitchen, professes two lifelong loves: food, and working with children. After two decades of a fulfilling career in the preschool sector, she decided it was time to realise her longstanding dream of a culinary profession. Though food and preschool education are distinct domains, Jasmine’s personal childcare philosophies find a place in her culinary approach. Just as she strives to dedicate the utmost heart and patience to nurturing every child so they may blossom into their fullest potential, she crafts every dish with the greatest love and attention so that they boast the most developed flavours. Jasmine’s mother, an excellent home cook, is her biggest role model. She pays homage to her culinary heroine with recipes that draw inspiration from her mother’s repertoire of ‘good, old-fashioned Chinese food’. The name “Popo’s Kitchen” comes from her mother’s grandchildren – her nieces and nephews, who love “Popo’s” cooking like she does. It is this same love that she seeks to share, with her offerings of carefully crafted, wholesome comfort food that shine in refined simplicity.
Popular Kuehs & Snacks

On Popo’s Kitchen’s menu at Chef X is a selection of crowd-favourite kueh and snacks, such as their signature Soon Kueh ($1.70 per piece). This delicacy features a moreish filling of premium dried shrimp, mushroom, carrot, turnip, and fresh coriander wrapped in a delightfully chewy skin, which is made with a secret recipe using four different types of flour. Another variation of this classic is the Mala Soon Kueh ($1.90 per piece), which delivers a kick of heat from the incorporation of mala spices in the filling and a touch of mala oil in the signature chewy skin. The richly fragrant Truffle Mushroom Kueh ($2.40 per piece) comprises a truffle-infused kueh skin, and an umami-packed blend of shiitake, oyster, and shimeji mushrooms seasoned with truffle paste. Other delightful bites include Ku Chai Kueh ($1.90 per piece), Blue Pea Yam Kueh ($2 per piece), and Yam Cake ($6 per piece).
Sexy Chicks
A heartier option is the Quarter Chicken Leg with 2 Sides (from $16) or elevate the dining experience with the Roast Whole Chicken (from $48). Popo’s Kitchen prepares fresh chicken in five different ways: Rosemary, Tom Yum, Mala, Rendang, and Truffle Mushroom. The Rosemary is made with chicken leg rubbed with fresh rosemary, thyme, and premium French butter, roasted in the oven till delectably tender. The Tom Yum is piquant with the profile of a house-made tom yum paste, with lemongrass, lime leaf, and other aromatics for added vibrancy. To pair with the chicken is the diner’s choice of 2 sides, from an array that includes Achar Salad, Mixed Green Salad, Mala Mixed Vegetables, Special Egg, Homemade Mashed Potato with Mushroom Sauce, and Collagen Mixed Rice. The latter features flavourful white and brown rice cooked in a chicken bone broth that is simmered for over 8 hours.
