Villa Verde Park: A Playground and Nature Playgarden Found Under a Flyover

We gotta admit: we have a thing for sheltered outdoor playgrounds. Our kids can still get loads of that fresh air, and have fun playing outside even when the sun is blazing. Such playgrounds also present the opportunity for a play session in the afternoon after preschool ends, with plenty of time to go home for dinner. Really, what’s not to like? 

Spotted: a playground under a flyover

If you’re on the same page, you’re going to love this playground at the revamped Villa Verde Park! The extension of the park is located beneath a pair of flyovers, which offer copious amounts of shade.

The playground might look simple at first glance, but there’s so much to do! Try the mini rock-climbing wall, make your way across the little bridge, and skip up a ladder made of discs. 

Be spoiled for choice with three slides — a curvy one, a straight one, and an undulating one. 

Go under the play structure to find an interactive game of tic-tac-toe. Anyone up for a match?

The adjacent play area has a small slide, a smaller rock-climbing section, and a tunnel. 

That’s not all: our daughter’s favourite part was the little bus — she had so much fun climbing in and out, and ‘driving’ to places!

Be surrounded by nature

Despite being under a flyover, the playground is surrounded by nature. You’ll find a nature playgarden just beside the main playground!

Take little steps across the logs, or pretend that you’re a train driver. Choo choo! Or, hop and skip across a platform made out of tree stumps. There are also some sandpits — so take off your shoes, and go all out!

What to bring

There’s a road track (complete with road markings) of sorts that’s flat and wide. Don’t forget to bring your bicycle! Sunscreen isn’t necessary here due to the shade from the flyover, but some insect repellent will be good to have. Other items include wet tissues, a water bottle, and perhaps an extra shirt if you’d like to play with the sand.

Our experience

The cherry on top would definitely be how the playground enjoys shelter from the flyover. We liked how versatile the whole play area is, complete with a cycling track and nature playgarden. This playground ranks high on the family-friendly scale as well, as it’s just a stone’s throw away from a dog run and fitness corner.

Location

If you’re arriving by car, park at the Verde View estate. From there, cross a bridge to get to the playground. You can also take a bus from opposite Yew Tee MRT station to the bus-stop after Yew Tee flyover, and walk three minutes to the playground.
