LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort is launching its first-ever Merdeka Fest. Running for 25 days from 27 August to 20 September 2026, the resort is bringing together traditional Malaysian culture, hands-on workshops, live stage shows, and collaborative LEGO® building activities designed for families.

1. Hands-On Cultural Workshops & Live Performances

Throughout the festival, The Beginning Stage will host daily shows and interactive cultural sessions where children can learn traditional skills directly from local performers.

  • Themed Weekly Showcases: Kick off with the Merdeka Opening Spectacular (27 Aug – 6 Sept), followed by Cultural Week (7 – 13 Sept) featuring traditional dances such as Tarian Tradisi Malaysia, Tarian Rakyat Serumpun, and Tarian Borneo. The celebration concludes with the Unity Grand Finale Farewell Show (14 – 20 Sept), alongside special cultural performances every Saturday.

  • Interactive Workshops: Kids can participate directly in hands-on sessions including Bengkel Tarian Joget 1 Malaysia, Bengkel Zapin Warisan, Bengkel Kuda Kepang, Let’s Learn Magunatip, and Mari Mencanting Batik.

2. Collaborative LEGO® Building & Daily Challenges

Beyond stage entertainment, families can work together on several creative LEGO® builds and educational quests stationed around The Beginning Stage:

  • LEGO® Mural Jalur Gemilang: Help complete a giant collaborative LEGO® mural of the Malaysian national flag, brick by brick.

  • Build-A-Heart & Build-A-Tower: Take on family building challenges centred around symbols of unity and structure.

  • Malaysia Discovery Quest & Merdeka Colouring: Young children can complete a themed activity map to learn fun facts about Malaysia while solving small challenges along the way.

  • Sort for a Greener Malaysia: A hands-on activity designed to teach kids practical waste-sorting habits and recycling awareness through play.

  • Minifigure Trading & Lucky Draws: Meet Model Citizens throughout the park to trade LEGO® minifigures, stop by the themed Photo Booth, and enter the daily Merdeka Lucky Draw for a chance to win LEGO® sets.

3. Merdeka Long Weekend Competitions (28 – 31 August)

If you are visiting over the Merdeka weekend, four distinct family competitions will take place on consecutive days:

  • Speed Building Challenge (28 August): Test your family’s assembly speed in a timed LEGO® build race.

  • Merdeka Costume Contest (29 August): Dress the kids up in traditional Malaysian attire or creative patriotic outfits to take the stage.

  • Batik Painting Competition (30 August): Try your hand at traditional batik art techniques in a friendly creative contest.

  • Merdeka Singing Competition (31 August): Take the mic at The Beginning Stage to sing your favourite national songs.

Annual Pass Special Deal

Families planning multiple trips across the border can take advantage of the Triple Park Annual Pass promotion. Available at a flat rate of RM266, the pass offers year-long entry across the Theme Park, Water Park, and SEA LIFE Aquarium. Passholders also receive an exclusive limited-edition MINILAND Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (JDT) Pass, created in collaboration with Johor Darul Ta'zim FC.

BYKidO Tip: Most of the core Merdeka Fest workshops, LEGO® mural builds, and stage shows are concentrated around The Beginning Stage near the entrance. If you plan to enter the daily competitions over the 28–31 August long weekend, schedule your arrival early in the morning, as selected activities require on-site registration before the main events start.
