Sunway Putra Mall provided hydroponic kits to families and kids from Buku Jalanan Chow Kit BJCK as an alternative means of growing leafy greens and vegetables!
This festive season, Sunway Putra Mall hopes to provide goodwill to those in need and ensures no one is left behind during this wonderful time of the year.
Hydroponic Kits
Sunway Putra Mall provided hydroponic kits few weeks ago to BJCK as an alternative means of growing leafy greens and vegetables such as bak choy, lettuce and more using only water and sunlight. Hydroponic growing has received a lot of attention in recent years and we believe it may help the families to have continues flow of fresh and nutritious vegetables.
Learning About Mother Earth
Kids were given opportunity to learn about Mother Earth through a hands-on experience in hydroponic farming with the help of Sunway XFarms, an urban farm innovation. The kids were guided to sprout bak choy seeds in water and they were asked to observe and record the growth on daily basis. It is a sustainability effort to provide an opportunity for the young generation to bring food production closer to them either to consume or sell for extra income.
Shopper Encouraged To Take Part
Shoppers are also encouraged to show kindness and compassion through The Goody Aid. They can either opt for Charity Gift Wrapping (19 Nov - 2 Jan) where shoppers can enjoy gift wrapping service (maximum 3 items) and get rewarded with an exclusive Tote Bag and goodies upon donating RM10 via Sunway Pay at the Concierge Counter, GF,
Or they can contribute in Sunway Putra Cares initiative (19 Nov - 2 Jan) by donating non-perishable items and daily essentials into the Donation Bin located next to Concierge Counter, GF.
Sunway Putra Mall provides a platform for BJCK to raise funds through Bake Sale Fundraiser (19 Nov - 2 Jan, every Sat & Sun) at Level 1. BJCK together with the children of BJCK will be selling cookies, snacks and more on Saturdays and Sundays. This also provides an opportunity to create awareness on the efforts of BJCK to the underprivileged community of Chow Kit.
All proceeds and contributions will be channeled towards the operations of BJCK.
