Turn Your Child’s Ideas into a Real Neighbourhood Project: NHB and OH! Open House Launch $3,000 Community Grant for Kids

Most children's activities invite kids to join in, but a new initiative in Punggol is giving young minds the funds, time, and team to run the show. Under the Heritage Activation Node at Punggol (HAN@Punggol)—a collaboration between the National Heritage Board (NHB) and OH! Open House—the Call for Collaboration 2026: Children’s Edition is calling on children to create, design, and execute their very own community project.

Centred around the theme "Our Favourite Place in Punggol", this unique programme gives kids a platform to explore their local history, look at everyday spaces with fresh eyes, and share their stories with the wider community.

How It Works: From Idea to Execution

If your child loves exploring, storytelling, or hands-on creative projects, this initiative takes them through a complete project lifecycle with structured support.

  • Two-Day Project Development Bootcamp: Children start their journey by brainstorming, researching local stories, and forming teams to shape their initial concepts.

  • Five Months of Mentorship: Rather than leaving teams to work in isolation, experienced mentors will guide the children step-by-step through research, concept development, and execution.

  • Full Financial & Logistics Support: Each team will be backed by project management assistance and up to S$3,000 in seed funding to transform their concepts into physical or experiential installations.

  • Community Presentation: The final projects will be unveiled to the public during a local neighbourhood festival in March 2027.

Why Join?

Beyond learning about local heritage, participating children gain real-world experience in project management, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. By diving into overlooked neighbourhood stories and rethinking familiar places, kids get to see the direct impact of their work on the surrounding community.

  • Target Age: 9 – 13 years old
  • Application Deadline: 30 August 2026
  • Project Duration: ~5 months (leading to a public neighbourhood festival in March 2027)
