Experience six months of music, culture, and community as Singapore Chinese Orchestra celebrates its 30th anniversary season

If you’ve been looking for a reason to experience live music in Singapore, this may be the perfect season to add to your calendar! The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a six-months programmes that invites you to look back on three decades of music while discovering new performances, collaborations, and community experiences along the way.

Held under the theme Looking Back, Giving Back, SCO30 is more than an anniversary celebration. It’s an opportunity for you to experience performances inspired by the orchestra’s history while enjoying special initiatives created to bring communities together.

To mark this milestone year, you can enjoy 30% off tickets across all ticketed SCO30 productions from 16 June to 31 August 2026. If you’re a Friends of SCO member, you’ll also receive priority booking access and additional savings during the priority period.

Experience Concerts Inspired by 30 Years of Musical Legacy

The anniversary season begins with the SCO30 Opening Gala on 18 July 2026, where you’ll become part of the experience where SSO will introduce an interactive element inspired by the excitement of blind-box surprises. 

Before the concert starts, you’ll be invited to discover a Chinese Orchestra Personality and answer a series of fun questions exploring your musical preferences and concert-going styles. Your responses will help shape the concert repertoire, making every performance feel unique.

Throughout the season, you can also attend Resonating 30, a tribute concert series honouring the conductors and artistic leaders who helped shape SCO’s journey over the past three decades.

Featured performances include:

  • Resonating 30 with Tsung Yeh (15 August 2026)
  • Resonating 30 with Qu Chunquan (29 August 2026)
  • Resonating 30 with Hu Bingxu (3 October 2026)
  • Resonating 30 with Xia Feiyun (17 October 2026)

Each concert revisits iconic works and musical moments connected to the orchestra’s evolving identity. The season culminates on 21 November with the SCO30 Closing Gala, conducted by Principal Conductor Quek Ling Kiong.

Celebrate Mid-Autumn Through Music for Everyone

If you’re planning a family day out, don’t miss A Voyage of Voices: Moonbound on 19 September 2026. Presented in Mandarin with English surtitles, this immersive concert brings Mid-Autumn traditions to life through music inspired by Singapore’s multicultural heritage. 

Expect interactive moments, familiar melodies, and a special appearance by conductor Quek Ling Kiong’s beloved alter ego, Ah De. Tickets are available at a special anniversary price of $30.

See Music Bring Communities Together

As for the next month, happening on 31 October 2026, SCO will share the stage with The Purple Symphony, Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra, comprising musicians with and without disabilities. Titled SCO30: Giving Back in Harmony, the concert marks SCO’s largest collaboration with The Purple Symphony to date.

From August to December, SCO will also present 12 free outreach and community concerts. across parks, hospital atriums, community clubs, and outdoor amphitheatres, under its Caring Series, Community Series, Music Oasis, and Lunchtime Concert programmes.

This commitment to accessibility — bringing live Chinese orchestral music to seniors in eldercare facilities, residents in heartland neighbourhoods, and families in public green spaces — sits at the core of SCO’s giving-back mission.

End the Season with a Special Anniversary Finale

The celebration concludes on 21 November 2026 with the SCO30 Closing Gala. Alongside works that connect back to SCO’s earliest performances, the concert will feature the world premiere of Lion City Symphony – An SCO 30th Anniversary Commission, created specially to commemorate this milestone year.

And don’t forget to bring home limited-edition SCO30 Merchandise, created specially for the milestone season. Look out for the Little Treble Makers plushie collection featuring four instrument-inspired designs — the drum, erhu, zhongruan, and sheng — each representing the different sounds that come together to create Chinese orchestral music.

You can also collect The Treble Boost keycap keychains, designed around the personalities of traditional Chinese instruments, from the expressive erhu to the energetic suona.

For an extra surprise, selected seats across the seven ticketed SCO30 concerts will include redemption tickets for the plushies. You can also redeem the keycaps by completing a survey and following SCO on Instagram.
