Welcome the Indian New Year this month with an array of immersive cultural activities presented by the Indian Heritage Centre.

Dates: 9 & 10 April 2022
Admission: Free, fees apply for workshops

The Indian New Year is celebrated by various Indian sub-communities in Singapore, each with its own unique traditions and practices. Tamil families celebrate Puthandu on the first day of the Tamil calendar month of Chithirai; the Sikh community observes Vaisakhi; while the Malayalee, Telugu and Bengali communities observe Vishu, Ugadi and Pohela Baishakh respectively around this time of the year.

In celebration of this festive period, come revel in the vibrant culture and traditions of our Indian communities at Indian Heritage Centre's (IHC) Indian New Year Open House 2022! Discover elements of the rich intangible cultural heritage that are practised by the various Indian communities through fun craft experiences, cultural workshops, and festive digital programmes, with a special focus on Indian music and musical instruments.
