A New Fitness Challenge for the Next Generation
If your child loves being active and enjoys a challenge, there’s a new fitness race to look forward to. HYROX Youngstars is officially launching in Asia with AIA HYROX Youngstars Singapore on 28–29 November 2026, giving children aged 8 to 15 the chance to experience the world of HYROX in a format designed specifically for young athletes.
Following trial events around the world, HYROX Youngstars became a permanent race format in January 2026. Its debut at HYROX Amsterdam saw more than 1,500 young athletes participate, with subsequent races held in cities including London, Berlin, Maastricht, Salt Lake City and Oslo.
Now, the series is heading to Singapore, where approximately 2,000 young participants are expected to join the two-day event.
Challenges Designed for Different Age Groups
HYROX Youngstars features movements, repetitions, distances and weights tailored to different age groups, allowing young athletes to take on challenges that are appropriate for their age and development.
The race features eight workout stations, including:
- SkiErg: Complete an assigned distance on the SkiErg.
- Sled Push: Push a weighted sled over a prescribed distance, with the load and distance adjusted by age.
- Sled Pull or Sled Drag: Pull or drag a weighted sled across the prescribed distance, depending on the participant’s age group.
- Burpee Broad Jumps or Frogger Jumps: Ages 10–15 take on chest-to-floor burpees followed by broad jumps, while ages 8–9 complete frogger jumps.
- Rowing: Complete an age-specific distance on a rowing machine.
- Kettlebell Farmers Carry: Carry a kettlebell in each hand across the prescribed distance.
- Lunges: Perform alternating forward lunges, with ages 12–15 carrying an age-appropriate sandbag.
- Wall Balls or Squats: Ages 8–11 complete weighted squats, while ages 12–15 take on wall balls using prescribed weights and target heights.
These challenges give young athletes a taste of fitness racing while helping them build strength, endurance, coordination and confidence.
A Chance for Kids To Experience HYROX
For children, the focus is not simply on speed or competition. The age-adapted format gives young athletes an appropriate challenge and the satisfaction of working their way through each station before crossing the finish line.
It also gives families a new way to experience the HYROX community together, with children getting their own introduction to the sport alongside the growing adult racing scene.
HYROX Youngstars Makes Its Asia Debut
The launch comes after four years of rapid growth for HYROX across the Asia-Pacific region. Since making its regional debut in Hong Kong in 2022 with fewer than 1,000 racers, HYROX is expected to welcome nearly 300,000 race entries across APAC in 2026.
As title partner, AIA is supporting the regional launch, reflecting both organisations’ shared commitment to encouraging active lifestyles, supporting long-term physical and mental wellbeing, and making fitness more accessible to families and communities across Asia.
