The annual Dreamseeds Arts Fest (DSAF) will return as a virtual arts experience, with an expanded lineup featuring music and dance performances, a virtual art gallery, parent-and-child workshops, as well as film screenings.

An event that champions inclusivity in the arts, and organised by Club Rainbow (Singapore), the DSAF offers its beneficiaries an opportunity to realise their creative potential and connect with the community through art.

The Festival also supports these young talents by providing resources and working with local creative practitioners to offer mentorship programmes.

Here's what you can expect at DSAF 2020:

1. Performing Arts Concert

When: 28 Nov 2020, 7.30pm to 8.00pm

The participating beneficiaries take centre stage at DSAF’s inaugural virtual concert! The lineup includes hip-hop dancing, body percussion, as well as ukulele and cajon performances.

The Music Mentorship Rock Band will also be sharing the stage with their mentors to perform the theme song for 2020 and other tunes!

 2. Virtual Art Gallery

The participating beneficiaries have worked closely with local artists to create thoughtful artworks inspired by the world around them.

  • Capturing Home

An exploration of home through the lens, Capturing Home allowed our budding photographers to pick up the fundamentals of thematic photography.

  • My Favourite Things Re-imagined

Inspired by their favourite things, the beneficiaries used a culmination of patterns, linework, colours, doodles and shapes to create whimsical characters.

3. Talks & Workshops

When: 28 Nov to 2 Dec 2020

These bite-sized activities are open to both the beneficiaries and the public. They constitute a range of educational and interactive sessions that introduce new skills and kickstart new hobbies.

Here are some of the workshops you can look forward to:

  • My World! Online Photography Workshop (2 Sessions)

With this online workshop, participants will be able to learn about the basics of storytelling through photographs at the comfort of their own homes.

Over 2 sessions, participants will learn the fundamentals of photography with simple and easy to replicate tips. Participants will be guided virtually as they work on a photo project on the theme of My World.

  • 2D Collage Workshop

In this online activity, get to create a simple 2D collage of your ideal dream space that you envision. Encourage imagination and thinking out of the box, participating children can share whimsical ideas of what they envision their dream space could be, if anything under the sun were to be possible!

Recommended age: 4 years to 12 years old (Adult supervision is required to assist in the artmaking)

  • Engaging your Child with Art as Therapy (Talk)

In this talk, learn about the difference between Art Therapy and Art as Therapy, and how you can engage your child during the creative process of art-making. There will also be a hands-on experience to deepen your understanding of the creative process.

Recommended for caregivers who are keen to engage their children using the creative process of art-making.

  • Fun with Notes Workshop

When: 1 Dec 2020, 3pm to 4pm | Register here

This workshop introduces music clefs, dynamic terminology of music theory fundamentals by getting your children engaged in a fun-filled experiential session.

Suitable for children with minimal music knowledge (recommended for 4-7 years), family members welcomed to participate.

4. Film Screenings

  • Dandelion in the Wind by Do Thi Ngan Giang (29 Nov)

Duration: ~4mins

A man, while looking for his dog, stumbles upon a magical world of dreams. The main character, through the journey, discovers himself and his unwavering determination to be united with his beloved pet. The film pays homage to Renee Magritte, the master of illusions, dreams and the uncanny.

  • Return to Sender by Gan Chin Lin (30 Nov)

Duration: ~20mins

Insulated by the lonely monotony of routine, Ji spend her nights tearing flyers and junk mail. One night, an interesting flyer gives her an unexpected opportunity for reconnection.

  • Cubed by Xue Enge (1 Dec)

Duration: ~4mins

A man with a Rubik's Cube for a head tries to connect with others. When he fails, he tries again. When he fails again, he runs away.

  • The Way Home by Kai Lun Pang (2 Dec)

Duration: ~12mins

Ana crash lands on a dangerous planet and meets a curious creature while waiting for rescue. When it ruins her one-way ticket back, Ana must learn to trust her newfound friend to find the way home.
