The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a cherished UNESCO World Heritage Site, is unveiling a spectacular new experience that's perfect for young families: EnlighTEN @ Singapore Botanic Gardens. For the first time in its 166-year history, the Gardens are putting on a nightly light show, transforming iconic corners into a dreamy wonderland. This is an unmissable opportunity to create unforgettable memories with your little ones under the stars!

What to Expect: Lights, Music, and More!

From 7.30 pm to 10 pmfrom now till 10th August 2025, the Gardens will come alive with breathtaking light installations set to orchestral pieces by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). Imagine strolling hand-in-hand with your children, captivated by the twinkling lights and soothing music!

Here's a glimpse of the magical installations you can explore:

  • Tanglin Gate: First Light – This show pays homage to the Gardens' living legacy.

  • Swan Lake: A Garden’s Reflection – A mesmerising six-minute light show tracing the Gardens' rich history, screened daily from 19 July to 10 August at 7.30 pm, 7.50 pm, 8.10 pm, 8.30 pm, 8.50 pm, 9.10 pm, 9.30 pm and 9.50 pm.

  • Bandstand: Rain Tree Radiance – An enchanting installation designed by the Gardens' talented staff.

  • Clock Tower @ Orchid Plaza: Time’s Quiet Pulse – A contemplative work offering a moment of tranquility.

  • Palm Court: Canopy of Wonder – Be awed by a stunning canopy of lights.

These installations offer fantastic photo opportunities, so be sure to bring your cameras to capture those precious family moments!

Beyond the Lights: A Celebration of Heritage and Nature

The EnlighTEN light show is part of a momentous year for the Gardens, celebrating its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 150 years of the Singapore Herbarium and Botany Library, 30 years of the National Orchid Garden, and of course, Singapore’s 60th year of independence!

As part of the nationwide SG60 festivities, the Gardens are also hosting two other incredible events:

  • Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Festival: This festival boasts over 40 free activities for all ages. Expect live music performances, outdoor movie screenings, guided tours, and hands-on workshops where you can even learn about plant conservation! Don't forget to pick up a Discovery Passport at Visitor Services Counters and collect 10 embossed stamps at various stations to receive an exclusive Heritage Pin!
    • Movie screenings at the Eco-Lake Lawn from 7.30 pm onwards on the following dates: 
      • 19 July: Disney and Pixar’s Elemental
      • 20 July: Fire of Love
      • 26 July: The Wild Robot
      • 27 July: The Eagle Huntress
  • SGF Orchid Show: Held at the National Orchid Garden, this show features exquisite orchid displays from hobbyists and professional growers. The best part? Singapore residents enjoy FREE entry to the National Orchid Garden from 19th to 27th July! There are also activities like "The Extra-Orchidnary Hunt" on weekends perfect for curious little minds.

EnlighTEN Light Show will happen nightly from now till 10th August 2025, 7.30 pm to 10 pm. Across various locations across the Singapore Botanic Gardens (Tanglin Gate, Swan Lake, Bandstand, Clock Tower @ Orchid Plaza, Palm Court).

Admission is Free!

The Gardens are easily accessible by MRT (Napier Station for Tanglin Gate, Botanic Gardens Station for Bukit Timah Gate) and various bus routes. You can also use ride-hailing services.

Tips for Parents:

  • Dress comfortably: You'll be doing a fair bit of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must.
  • Insect repellent: As it's an outdoor event, especially in the evening, insect repellent is advisable.
  • Stay hydrated: Bring water bottles for the family.
  • Plan your visit: With so much to see and do, plan your route and prioritise activities.
  • Jacob Ballas Children's Garden: If you're visiting during the day, remember the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden is a fantastic play area for kids with plenty of interactive elements. Note that strollers and scooters are not allowed inside for safety.
  • Accessibility: The main areas of the Gardens are generally stroller-friendly, but some paths might be uneven.
