Planning a trip to Shanghai Disneyland with kids? Use this ride height guide to find attractions suitable for every age

Did you know that Shanghai Disneyland is the largest stand-alone Disney park in the world? In fact, it’s around three times the size of Hong Kong Disneyland! And with a park that big, trust us, you’ll definitely need a game plan — especially if you have little ones in tow. Read more about Shanghai Disneyland with ride ranking as well as tips and strategies to help you maximise your time there!

Read on to find out which rides your kids can or cannot go on with our handy Shanghai Disneyland ride height restrictions guide for your next magical trip.

Tip: The Rider Switch option is a total lifesaver! A parent can wait with a non-rider whilst the other parent goes on with an older kid or solo. Once the ride is over, the waiting parent can take their turn without going through the queue again. How amazing is that?

No height restrictions — woohoo!

Slinky Dog Spin

Climb into one of Slinky’s spirals, and hold on as it starts chasing its tail round and round in a wavy up-and-down circle.

Voyage to the Crystal Grotto

The ride’s animatronics might be a little dated, but it still offers a nice and relaxing experience. Hop onto a large boat and float past scenes from Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Fantasia, and more.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Kids all love this ride, which allows them to fly through the air whilst seated in a cute little Dumbo elephant. We especially like how you can control your elephant’s flying height with a lever.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Clamber into a large hunny pot, and get ready to go on an adventure with Winnie the Pooh and friends. There’s even a part where you’ll have fun bouncing with Tigger!

Hunny Pot Spin

Have fun spinning in circles whilst seated in colourful hunny pots. Warning: this is not for those who suffer from motion sickness.

Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue

Grab a partner, and gear up for an intergalactic battle! Point your laser gun at various targets, and see who can clock the most points.

Fantasia Carousel

This is a ride that’s well loved by both the young and old. The horses on this carousel have an extra whimsical touch to them, and come in a wide array of colours.

Minimum height requirement of 81cm

Zootopia Hot Pursuit

This is, hands down, one of the park’s most popular rides. Race through the different districts after Bellwether, with an entertaining performance by Gazelle at the end.

Tip: Don’t worry if you’re faced with a long wait time. The queue contains lots of photo spots, making it well worth your time.

Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure

On a scale of one to 10, we’d rate this ride a 20. We were truly blown away by how immersive it was! However, it might prove to be a little loud and intimidating for young tots. Towards the end, there’s also a small backwards dip in the dark.

Woody’s Roundup

Strap into a cart pulled by Bullseye, and whip around in delight around the square. This ride is faster than it looks, and our daughter loved it!

Peter Pan’s Flight

Soar in a pirate ship through the world of Peter Pan, where you’ll come face to face with Captain Hook at the end.

Minimum height requirement of 97cm

Seven Dwarves Mine Train

This is another of the park’s most popular rides. This family-friendly rollercoaster doesn’t skimp on the thrill as it barrels through and around Snow White’s dwarves’ mine.

Tip: If you have the 1-hour early entry (a perk for guests of Disneyland Hotel or Toy Story Hotel, or available as an add-on), we recommend heading for this ride first. We only had to wait 10 minutes, whilst wait times went up to 100 minutes later on in the day.

Minimum height requirement of 102cm

Soaring Over the Horizon

As the name suggests, the ride soars above the world’s iconic landmarks and landscapes. Think: Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, the Egyptian pyramids, and more.

Minimum height requirement of 107cm

Roaring Rapids

Brave the rapids on board a raft. P.S. You will get wet! Bring a poncho, or buy one on the spot.

Minimum height requirement of 112cm

Jet Packs

Swoop through the air, and enjoy a bird’s eye view of Tomorrowland.

Minimum height requirement of 120cm

Rex’s Racer

We love this ride! Hold on tight as the giant car goes on a gravity-defying adventure along a U-shaped half-pipe track.

Minimum height requirement of 122cm

Tron Lightcycle Power Run

Tbh, we’ve never seen anything like this ride. Unlike typical rollercoasters, you’ll be seated in a forward-leaning position on your motorcycle. Feel the wind in your hair as you throttle along the track. A big 10/10 from us!

BONUS: Royal Banquet Hall with Illuminate Reserved Viewing

This isn’t a ride per se, but it was one of the highlights of our Shanghai Disneyland trip! Besides, Shanghai Disneyland is the only Disney park in Asia where you can actually dine inside the castle itself.

Be treated like royalty at the Royal Banquet Hall character dining, where you can meet and take photos with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy dressed up in their royal outfits.

Each table has one photo opportunity with each character, but you’re more than welcome to take multiple photos (e.g. both solo and family shots). We did find the interactions a little more rushed than Hong Kong Disneyland’s character dining options, but liked how novel the whole experience was.

The themed food looks really pretty too! At the end of each 90-minute dining session, the four characters come together to do a little performance.

Even better, it comes with a reserved viewing area for the Illuminate castle and fireworks show! We highly recommend this with little kids, as we simply had to rock up 10 minutes before the show started.

Tip: Bring along a small mat, as you can stay seated throughout the entire show. Our daughter even had lots of space to lie down, and enjoy the show to its fullest.

Book the experience via the Shanghai Disneyland app, or online (bookings open up every Friday for the next 10 days). You’ll also have to contact customer service via the website chat function to book a specific timeslot. If you just want to experience the Royal Banquet Hall without Illuminate reserved viewing, you can reserve a timeslot via the Dianping app without having to make payment upfront.
