We are officially in 2023! We are already looking at an exciting start to the new year with a massive light installation, the start of CNY events and celebrations as well as more! Let's start the new year with a bang and have massive family fun!

1. Light To Night 2023 Returns To Civic District

Venue: Civic District
Dates: 6 - 26 Jan 2023
Admission: Free

The popular light festival, Light to Night returns to the Civic District from 6 to 26 Jan 2023. Light to Night 2023 embraces the theme of 'Here and Now' and explores what it really means to be in the present. Inspired by the process of responding to one’s time and environment through art, the festival invites visitors to reflect on contemporary topics through newly commissioned works by local and international artists in the Civic District.

Families can look forward to massive light installations across the buildings located within the Civic District. While there is no official details available yet, we are looking forward to catching the light projections on the National Monuments in the area as well as the use of the Padang to display the many installations!

2. Cute Rabbit Installations at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2023

Venue: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
Dates: 29 Dec 2022 - 19 Feb 2023
Admission: Free with fees for selected programmes

Join Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH) as they celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with family friendly events and programmes as part of the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2023! 

Most of the programmes will be happening at the end of the month as we near Chinese New Year, including lion dance and festive drumming workshops, temple tours and heritage trails, storytelling, craft activities for the little ones, and more! However, families can already expect the adorably ginormous rabbit installation of Bit Bit Forest at the SYSNMH Lawn from now till 19 Feb 2023! 

3. CNY Festivities At The Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival

Dates: 3 Jan - 19 Feb 2022
Admission: Free

The Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival returns to Chinatown with a street light-up, food and festive fairs, and weekly stage shows, as well as a countdown party too! 

The official street light-up will take place on 3 Jan at Kreta Ayer Square and will continue to be switched on nightly until 19 Feb in New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road and, for the first time, Upper Cross Street. 

Apart from the lightings, families can also enjoy the Chinatown Festive Fair that will run from 1 to 21 Jan at Pagoda Street, Smith Street, Sago Street, Temple Street and Trengganu Street  with a Chinatown Food Fair happening at the same period in Smith Street. 

4. Collect Cute Red Packets At The Museum Roundtable Lunar New Year Hongbao Campaign

Venue: 39 participating museums, heritage institutes and galleries
Dates: 6 Jan - 3 Feb 2023

The popular Museum Roundtable Lunar New Year Hongbao Campaign 2023 returns for its 9th edition this week. Families can collect red packets inspired by the high-spirited and curious rabbit at 39 participating museums, heritage institutions and galleries. Each set will feature designs themed according to the participating museums, heritage institution and galleries. 

Note that the red packets are highly sought after, and you should start planning your "attack" route now! Otherwise, there will also be a chance to win a full set of red packets or a limited-edition collector’s album through online giveaways hosted on the ‘I Love Museums’ Facebook page.

5. Celebrate The Harvest At The Indian Heritage Centre's Pongal Open House!

Admission: Free

The Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) invites families to give thanks for a bountiful harvest with Pongal Open House 2023! This year’s open house is themed Farm-tastic, and will feature an exciting lineup of programmes on 7, 8, 14 and 15 January.

Families can look forward to an immersive tour of a local farm, heritage trails, live folk performances, traditional food and craft demonstrations, and more!
