Planning a stay at Chimelong Resort? Here’s everything to know about Chimelong Panda Hotel, from themed rooms and family-friendly facilities to dining and exclusive guest perks

My daughter hugs a panda chou chou to sleep every night, and has more panda stuffies than we can count. So, how could we resist booking a hotel that’s themed after her favourite animal?Ā

Chimelong Panda Hotel is located about 30 minutes from Guangzhou city, and is located in the heart of Chimelong Resort. Getting there is easy too: we took an easy one-hour train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou South train station, followed by a 15-minute taxi ride to the resort.Ā Ā

Tip: Keep a lookout for super value-for-money packages! Our 3D2N stay came bundled with a daily buffet breakfast, as well as three-day tickets to three of the four Chimelong parks.

Get ready for pandas everywhere you look

Whilst there aren’t any real pandas at the hotel (you’ll find them at Chimelong Safari Park!), the hotel takes the panda theme to the next level. You’ll find lots of panda statues around every corner, panda mascots roaming the lobby and food court, and panda motifs all over the walls and even the floor.

The lobby itself is flooded with natural light, and embodies a whimsical circus feel. At first look, you know this hotel is built for kids, with activities like face painting, mascot meet and greets, as well as caricatures available. During the check-in process, kids can be easily entertained with giant interactive screens and watching white peacocks strut their stuff in the aviary.Ā

We meant it when we said that everything is panda-themed. And we’re all for it!

Stay in the cutest panda-themed rooms

Fair warning: the rooms are so cute that the kids might not even want to leave! Choose a room themed after a hungry panda, complete with a headboard modelled after a packet of fries; or a pretty-in-pink room themed after Meizhu, one of the pandas at the safari park. The Meizhu room is great for families, as it even comes with a bunk bed.

And believe us, we’ve never seen a more child-friendly room! Kids have a special step stool to reach the sink; as well as kids-sized mugs, toiletries, and slippers. There’s an inbuilt children’s toilet seat, on top of shampoo and soap placed at a lower height. The room also comes with a steriliser and, to our surprise, mini pillows for your child’s sleeping comfort.

Tip: Before you check out, don’t forget to bring home the complimentary postcards and panda storybook found in each room.

Every meal was so fun too

Each night, we had dinner at the panda food court. We loved the variety of food available — from Western steak and Cantonese dishes to seafood, there was something for the whole family.

Children will love the curated kids’ meals available at each stall. Ours came with two cute character baos, porridge, a whole boiled egg, and a cup of milk. It comes in a special little tray too!

Panda mascots will come round to say hi whilst you dine. Feel free to take lots of photos, and high-five or hug them as they come to your table.

If the kids are done with their meal before the adults, let them loose at this complimentary ball pit located within the food court itself. Note that socks are mandatory for entry.

There’s also a buffet restaurant, which is stocked with plenty of panda-themed food. We had our breakfasts there, but we much preferred the food court as the buffets are extremely carb-heavy.

TLDR: Children will never be bored here

Think: cooking classes, a panda parade, and more. If you happen to visit on a Saturday, you’re in luck! Don’t miss out on the bedtime stories for kids at 9pm every Saturday evening.

Tip: You’ll have to register your kid at the lobby from 2pm to 6pm. We were unable to meet the registration timing, but managed to score a walk-in as we visited during an off-peak period.Ā

Your kids will enjoy solving riddles and listening to a bedtime story. The session ends with a glass of warm milk, as well as a goodnight hug from a panda mascot!

Other hotel facilities

Feeling peckish? Grab a snack from the well-stocked convenience store. Otherwise, load your baskets with the cutest panda toys and merchandise from the gift shop.

We also came across a makeover boutique on the second floor, complete with elaborate dresses and photoshoot opportunities. Or, have your family portrait drawn by a caricature artist.

After dinner, check out the little supper cart set up near the lobby. The hotel really thinks of everything!

Besides, how adorable does this panda-shaped ice cream look?

The hotel is a good base for exploring the resort

From the hotel, take a short walk to Chimelong International Circus, Chimelong Paradise (a theme park), and Chimelong Water Park. The walkway is, of course, peppered with panda statues and images.

Tip: The walkways are wide, with lifts available. All the better for strollers, we say!

There are complimentary shuttle buses running to Chimelong Safari Park (seven minutes away) and Chimelong Bird Park (30 minutes away) as well. Convenience is the name of the game here, and we love how everything is within easy reach.Ā

P.S. Hotel guests can enjoy a 30-minute early entry privilege at both Chimelong Safari Park and Chimelong Paradise. Sweet, huh!
