We may have just celebrated Christmas and New Year less than a month ago, but the next big festival, Lunar New Year is happening soon (1st Feb, in case you have not realised - you will need to see our 2022 holiday list if you did not know).
Don't be surprise to see mostly LNY-themed events in our list - in fact, we have added 2 "we think it will happen soon" suggestions in this week's list too!
Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2022

The annual Wan Qing Festival of Spring is back to celebrate the Year of the Tiger! Happening at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the 2022 edition will introduce Nian Hua from different parts of China, showcase a thematic installation that depicts familiar pop culture figures in the traditional style of new year prints, be the stage for a LIVE Lion Dance on the first day of the Lunar New Year, and organise various onsite workshops too.
Dahlia Dreams 2022 @ Gardens by the Bay

Featuring 2,000 showstopping dahlias alongside vibrant azaleas, chrysanthemums and cymbidiums, the popular Chinese New Year floral display, Dhalia Dreams 2022 at the Gardens by the Bay is the perfect place to usher in the Spring Festival and celebrate new beginnings!
Not just flowers, for the first time, a stunning River Hongbao lantern, Spring Fragrances (花香满溢), takes centrestage in the flower field. The lantern features three Chinese moon gates, a pair of rabbits and larger-than-life narcissus blooms. Also on display are adorable tiger cubs to ring in the Year of the Tiger, and auspicious decorations such as giant coin pouches (福袋) and couplets (春联) symbolising good fortune and prosperity.
These decorations will also light up in the evenings to create a completely different atmosphere and experience.

The Light to Night Festival is highly popular with families. In particular, families should not miss the light projections, Art Skins on Monuments, where the art works from local talents illuminate the Civic District's cultural institutions.
We especially recommend visiting the Padang where you will catch the projection on the facade of the National Gallery Singapore as well as enjoy the other artworks on the Padang. You will also be within walking distance of the other light projections too.

Celebrate the arrival of Spring with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra as they bring you Lunar New Year festive music at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, to usher in the Year of Tiger! Look forward to works like Tiger Bracing for Attack, Radiant with Joy, and Spring Festival Medley, conducted under the baton of Associate Conductor Moses Gay.
Unfortunately, tickets to the in-person concert is sold out, but you can still catch the performance online as the concert will also be LIVE streamed on NParksBuzz Facebook, NAC Singapore Facebook and Singapore Chinese Orchestra Facebook.

River Hongbao 2022
Likely to be happening at Gardens by the Bay, River Hongbao is an annual Chinese New Year event to usher in the new year with dazzling lanterns, performances and activities. It is usually family-friendly with lots to see and do for all ages. This year's edition will probably include both onsite and online experiences too.
We have spotted photos of the set-up online, but for the latest information on River Hongbao 2022, we suggest following their Facebook page.

Chingay 2022
The annual street parade, Chingay 2022, will happen on 12 Feb 2022 at 8 pm - as announced on the Chingay website, a LIVE webcast will be happening during this time with repeat telecasts for the next 2 week. Also from the website, we found out that you can start organising Watch Parties for the parade and win prizes doing so too!
It is not stated if there will be any physical parade this year but we suspect there might be some kind of parade that brings the floats across the heartlands - similar to what was planned (but cancelled) in 2020. Stay tune to the Chingay website for more details and updates.
