Feel the grass under your feet, sun on your face, breathe in the fresh air and run wild together with your little ones. After all, dirt can be washed away, not the memories of a great time.

Here is our pick of 6 Best Parks in Singapore ideal for a day out with your family.

1. Labrador Nature Reserve

Labrador Nature Reserve

Location: Labrador Villa Rd, Singapore 119187

From playgrounds and fitness equipment to remnants of the past that’ll transport you into a tumultuous time, you’ll find no small number of things to do at Labrador Nature Reserve.

Take a peek into Singapore’s bygone era through relics such as the replica of Dragon’s Teeth Gate, remains of a fort and machine gun bunker scattered around the park. Stop by Bukit Chermin Boardwalk by the seaside where you can revel in the tranquillity of the place, stroll along one of the nature trails or try your hand at fishing.

The park also boasts two playgrounds—a simple dated one with see-saws, merry-go-round and swings, and another larger one near a mini-maze with slides, tunnels and an addictive stand-up seesaw.

3. Jurong Central Park

Jurong Central Park

Location: Junction off Jalan Boon Lay & Boon Lay Way

Jurong Central Park may not be as big as the other parks in this list but it does offer an escape from the ordinary.

Here you’ll find the life-sized version of board games Ludo and Snakes & Ladders. Challenge your little ones to a game and take a short trip into the past. If they are not impressed, there are also sculpted terrains, ponds, aquatic plants and standard play equipments such as slides to please them with.

4. Pasir Ris Park

Pasir Ris Park

Location: 98 Pasir Ris Central, 519639

Pasir Ris Park is home to three different themed playgrounds consisting of impressive climbing structures, multiple slides, numerous swings, hills, sensory play structures and a mini maze.

Couple a trip to the massive playground together with a range of other activities such as cycling, skating and camping. You can also enjoy a scenic picnic, visit the mangrove forest and climb the Bird Watching Tower.

5. West Coast Park

West Coast Park

Location: West Coast Park

West Coast Park is well known for its Adventure Playground. With climbing structures, obstacles courses, slides, swings, Viking ship, sand play and more, it’s perfect for exhausting your little munchkins’ endless supply of energy.

But that’s not all there is to West Coast Park.

You can fly kites at the Grand Lawn, go bird watching at the Marsh Garden, and take a scenic walk along the coast where you’ll be able to see the distant industrial plants and factories.

Spread out a picnic mat and catch the sunset while you refill your energy with sandwiches (or whatever you’ve packed in your picnic basket). Or you could choose to have a mini barbeque party with your family, for which you’ll have to book the BBQ pit beforehand. For a simpler option, you could also drop into McDonalds to reenergize.

When night falls, slather on some insect repellent, pitch your tent and camp out with the mosquitos. If you do decide to rough it out in the outdoors, be sure to apply for a permit prior. You can find out more about it here.

6. East Coast Park

East Coast Park

Location: E Coast Park Service Rd, Singapore 449876

Saying East Coast Park is big might be an understatement. Huge might be a closer description and that makes it an ideal park for families.

You can rent some blades or wheels to go skating or cycling on a scenic route surrounded by nature. Cultivate the art of patience when you go fishing, build your dream castles with sand, and enjoy a leisurely picnic under the shade.

Treat your little ones to a scrumptious barbeque under the starry night sky or camp out in the “wild”, which requires you to get a permit and you can find out more about it here.

Also check out Marine Cove Playground where aside from an eye-catching red tower, there are also climbing structures, mounds on a hill to scale, sensory play panels, inclusive play equipment, swings, talking tubes and more to keep the tots entertained for hours.
