The upcoming week long September Holidays runs from 4 to 12 September 2021. From our initial research, the holiday period looks to be filled with many events and experiences for families to have fun at. Without further ado, here is a list of family-fun activities that your family can expect!

Mid-Autumn Activities @ Singapore Discovery Centre

The Singapore Discovery Centre is planning a series of mid-autumn activities that starts from 4 Sep 2021 and is suitable for the week-long September school holidays. From lantern walks to craft activities, everything sounds so exciting and we will be highlighting a couple of what you can expect!
Moon Mirrors from 4 September, every evening from 6 pm. Come enjoy a serene evening with this floating light installation by the Discovery Lake under the night sky. Definitely looks like a instagrammable spot for the family!
Moon Tales @ Gallery, on 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 September at 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Walk through the SDC's permanent gallery, Through The Lens of Time, in this indoor lantern walk and hear tales of the moon from storytellers as you explore the gallery.
Moonwalk, on 4 - 12, 18, 19 and 21 September at 1 pm to 6 pm (weekdays) and 11 am to 8 pm (weekends). Go on a trail hunt and find clues to learn more about the Moon and its significance by taking part in this self-guided centre-wide trail!
Nightscape Watercolour Workshop, on 4, 5, 11, and 12 September at 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Join local artist, Ong Lai Art, for 1hr 30mins of fun and easy watercolour painting session! This holiday, you will get to explore simple watercolour techniques and create your very own unique moon portrait. Tickets are available at $22 each. Each session can only accommodate 20 person, so book online now and avoid getting disappointed!
The Singapore Discovery Centre is also collaborating with Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) to introduce the Moon-LIT! Gift Set which comes with 2-piece traditional mooncakes from MINDS, 2 packets of Chinese tea, 1 x Lantern Walk (Storytelling) for 1 family (up to 5 persons) and 2 x Rabbit Lantern Crafts. Jumptopia @ Downtown East

A massive indoor bouncy castle setup at D'Marquee at Downtown East, Jumptopia is part of Kiztopia's 2nd year anniversary programmes. Expect to be jumping for the entirety of your 2 hour session in this 12,000 sqft, air-conditioned play tent with 6 giant Kiztopia bouncy castles.

Graffiti by the Beach (7 Sep, 21 Sep, 5 Oct, 19 Oct, 2 Nov & 16 Nov 2021). Join a local graffiti artist to learn the basics of graffiti painting, as you create your own graffiti-style artwork using basic spray-painting techniques. This 1.5hour workshop is priced at $20 per participant.
Fort Siloso Night Experience (10 Sep, 24 Sep, 8 Oct, 22 Oct, 5 Nov & 19 Nov 2021). In this 1.5-hour tour, you will be led only by a kerosene lamp and a guide who will take you through Singapore's only preserved coastal fort that served as part of the island’s defences. Take part at $15 per person.

Lantern Installation: “Those Moonlit Moments…”

Produced by Thailand artist Boonyavee Boonsakda (Ngaew Ngaew), in collaboration with the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, Those Moonlit Moments … is an outdoor installation comprising four large lanterns featuring the artist’s characters who are enjoying mooncakes and each other’s company under the gentle and watchful eye of Ngaew’s Moon Rabbit. The Moon Rabbit character was created specially for the Mid-Autumn Festival and is inspired by the Jade Rabbit from Chinese folklore which keeps the goddess Chang’e company on the moon.
Bring your own lanterns for a lantern walk in the evening while taking pictures with these cute giant lanterns too!

Read! Fest 2021 Literary Trails

Fest literary trails build on this year’s theme of ‘Reboot!’ by inspiring the public to consider fresh perspectives and face challenges in life. It is a self-directed and interactive experience, which can be enjoyed by the family as they go on a self-guided muti-sensory adventure to help our protagonist, Gerry to change his outlook on life and to face life’s challenges with a positive mindset!

A project by Art Wonderland, Narratives Of Our Children is a sharing of intimate stories by children living in Singapore and Bali. An interactive exhibition for all ages that transcends geographical boundaries, encourage your little ones to explore the child-led narratives shared by these children aged 3 - 12 years old, and hear the stories they are eager to tell.
The exhibition is suitable for kids 5 years and above. While admission is free, you will need to make a booking of your 2-hour time slot via Peatix.

My Community Festival is a ground-up community heritage festival that looks at the little traditions practiced around us that we may or may not have noticed. Through the festival, you will get to go on over 40 community-led different activities, tours and workshop happening around the island to gain an appreciation of everyday spaces and to uncover hidden gems.
For example, you can go on a tour of Pulau Hantu, or learn how to make Gula Melaka Chiffon Cake or even meet the last Songkok Maker in Singapore. To help you, we have prepared a selection of activities in our My Community Festival list for families.
Singapore Food Festival

The Singapore Food Festival 2021 celebrate the local F&B scene by showcasing local F&B talents of established and up-and-coming players. The 2021 edition will see virtual masterclasses, physical workshops and experiences and Singapore Food Festival exclusive menus at partnering restaurants.
The Singapore Food Festival 2021 and Klook are collaborating to create gastronomic experiences for you! These experiences include Trishaw Uncle Guided Tour, Hawkerwalk: Old School Snacks and a DIY Picnic Getaway with Local Delights! There is also Secret Suppers, where a selection of 20 top restaurants prepares a specially curated menu for the festival. The catch is, you’ll not know where and what you’ll be dining until you have booked the package!
Bath Bombs X Farmer's Edition

Start with a Farm Tour to learn about edibles and planting. This is followed by a workshop with Fawn Labs to craft 2 Bath Bombs from natural, non-toxic ingredients. Each participant will make a colorful bath bomb with a surprise toy inside and another bath bomb with the herb they have selected and harvested from the farm as a gift for their favourite adult.
Through the workshop, kids will learn about plants and their benefits for health and skin and how to recycle and upcycle. Finally, they will craft a card from recycled materials from the urban farm and lab. Using "trash" such as herbs, leaves, twigs, petals, cardboards, etc, they will put into practice what they learned about Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.

The STEAM Festival for Young Learners is an annual festival for kids between 3 to 6 years old. The Museum Roundtable (MR) is rolling out a series of Mystery Museum Tours which will take place each weekend from 4 to 26 September 2021. These tours are organised in collaboration with 10 MR members, and you won't know where you will be visiting when you purchase the tour! You will be informed of a theme of the tour and dates, and the actual museum that you are visiting is only revealed on the day of your visit!
There are a total of 34 tours with a maximum capacity of 10 pax per tour only. Thus the tours are expected to be popular and available to the fastest-fingers-first - read more about each mystery tour's theme first.
