Well-known as the Festival of Lights, Deepavali is the celebration of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. During the festival, families perform prayers light up lamps around their house and share feasts with their loved ones. Anyone can join in the celebrations and this year, with many events going digital, it’s much easier to join in!

1. ACM Celebrates Deepavali

Celebrate the Festival of Lights, Deepavali, with the Asian Civilisation Museum. Go on a Deepavali Discovery Trail at the museum and discover objects that are associated with this important Hindu festival. Don't miss the colourful flower rangoli at the ACM Lobby if you are visiting too!

2. Celebrate Deepavali 2021: Learn the Art of Flower Garland Tying
Location: Geyland Serai Heritage Gallery

Fee: $5
Flower garlands play an integral role in Indian culture, often as a sign of blessing and honour or as religious offerings. Join us to learn more about the use of different types of flowers in Indian customs through a fresh flower display and enjoy making your own string of flowers!
This 1 hour Flower Tying Workshop is available at just $5 and is open to all ages!
3. Celebrate Deepavali 2021 - Dance with Us: Oyilattam!

Oyilattam, meaning dance of grace, is an Indian traditional folk dance comprising elegant and rhythmic steps with the use of two handkerchiefs. Come join us for this lively Zoom dance workshop with your friends or family!
