Singapore might be known as boring and expensive - it doesn't mean families can't have fun for free! Here's a list of free and fun events that'll prove that statement wrong. 

So grab your kids and keep your wallets at home as you create family fun for free this year-end holiday! Keep this page in your bookmark as we continue to update it with new events and ideas for families!

1. Christmas In Bloom @ Orchard Road

Singapore's most popular shopping street will light-up with about 68km of fairy lights and oversized floral decorations, with some parts dressed with bold neon lights - it is themed "Christmas in Bloom". 

The highlight of the annual Orchard Road Christmas light-up includes a giant outdoor video projection that takes up an entire wall of  the Mandarin Orchard hotel and augmented reality (AR) fireworks that shoppers can see through an App.

2. A Jolly Molly Christmas with CapitaLand X POP MART Molly

Location: CapitaLand Mall Islandwide

Taking the pop art world by storm, Molly’s allure is undeniable, with her signature confident pout, innocent large lake-green eyes, coupled with the mystery of the blind box unboxing experience. This year, CapitaLand’s annual festive campaign presents four themed Molly installations across 16 CapitaLand malls islandwide.

A Jolly Molly Christmas will feature Molly in four thematic backdrops and for families to get their photo taken in these instagrammable installations.

3. NLB's Experience Labs For Families

Location: Selected Malls Islandwide

Discover Experience Labs designed to engage visitors through play and transporting families to new worlds at a shopping mall new you. 

You will find life-size Discovery Sculptures - feast your eyes on a giant dinosaur, or explore a house exploding with fungal life. Stand beside a terrarium blooming with enormous succulents, or catch a crab sneaking away from a giant’s dinner plate. Each of these sculptures hold stories that you can uncover by scanning the available QR Code. 

There will also be Carousel Cityscapes to take you on a sensory-rich audio-visual journey through foreign cities, bringing the wonders of the world right to your nearest shopping mall. Watch the sun set in Paris or gaze over the horizon from the top of a Swiss mountain; catch a tea ceremony in Tokyo or enjoy some K-pop in Seoul

4. Arts In Your Neighbourhood

Happening from 11 to 28 November 2021, Arts In Your Neighbourhood offers a series of physical and digital programmes - bringing quality and diverse arts experiences to everyone at their doorsteps and in the comforts of their homes with a medley of 20 engaging and interactive arts programmes.

This edition of AYN will cast the spotlight on five neighbourhoods and more including Bukit Merah, Jurong, Marine Parade, Serangoon and Tampines, each with their distinct charm and stories to tell. As everyday spaces are transformed into art canvases, AYN creates multi-faceted arts experiences for all. 

Families will fin family-friendly art programmes will also be great for the upcoming school holidays, and suitable for days out, or weekends in!

5. Wan Qing CultureFest X Children’s Season 2021

Venue: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH)
Date: 20 to 28 Nov 2021

Wan Qing CultureFest presents an array of fun activities including craft workshops and dramatised storytelling. The festival will also feature engaging online activities via the SYSNMH Facebook page (www.facebook.com/sysnmh) and Instagram page, where young audiences will get to learn about Modern Women’s changes in fashion, roles and statuses.

Wan Qing CultureFest 2021 will also be held in conjunction with Children’s Season 2021. Held during the end-year school holidays, join Xiao Qing to explore traditional Chinese women’s fashion through an array of fun-filled activities such as an interactive heritage hunt, and bring home a specially curated bilingual language learning activity kit!

6. Free Trials + Group Buy On BYKidO

We have also worked with multiple partners to offer free trials for families who like to try out different classes and courses. The holidays might be a great time to arrange these trials and to start planning for 2022! 

7. Children’s Season 2021: Fantastic Critters & Where To Find Them

Venue: Various on-site locations and on I Love Museums Facebook
Date: 20 Nov to 31 Dec 2021

Go on a hunt for Fantastic Critters at the museums during the December school holidays! Collect your copy of the Fantastic Critters Activity Booklet at any of the participating museums, and complete the activities listed in the booklet to collect specially designed critter stickers.

Collect all 15 critter stickers to redeem limited edition prizes from the Museum Roundtable. The Fantastic Critters Activity Booklet also includes a listing of holiday programmes at the museums for you and your family to enjoy, so get ready to grab your copy in November!

8. The Gallery Children's Biennale

Venue: National Gallery Singapore
Date: 6 Nov - Dec 2022

National Gallery Singapore invites children to embark on an inspiring multi-sensory experience as they explore 9 on-site installations of the Gallery Children’s Biennale. Complementing the digital format of the biennale, the on-site installations present immersive tactile experiences that are distinct from one’s experience with the online artworks.

9. Fungus Humongous At The Artground

Venue: The Artground, Goodman Arts Centre, 90 Goodman Road, Block J #01-40, Singapore 439053
Opening Hours: 9.30 am - 4.30 pm (Wed - Fri), 9.15 am - 5 pm (Sat & Sun)
Admission: Free with refundable deposit

Featuring a magical forest where everything, from fallen branches to all kinds of fungi, has been scaled up to huge proportions, Fungus Humongousis a playground with various play structures for the kids to explore and to have fun at! 

Tickets are free. But you will need to pre-book your tickets with a $15 refundable deposit. 

10. Singapore Discovery Centre 25th Anniversary

Venue: Singapore Discovery Centre
Opening Hours: 20 Nov 2021 - 3 Jan 2022
Admission: Free 

Come celebrate SDC's 25th anniversary with a line-up of engaging activities as part of the year-end holidays! Activities include a paper art installation, lights on the lake installation, craft activities, photo trails, game booths and more! 

11. Visit An Outdoor Park

Singapore offers a wide variety of parks (some with playgrounds) for families to explore and have fun. These parks are free and provide families with the amenities and space to run, play and have a good time together. 

Bring a ball, pack a picnic or simply put on your shoes - there is no need for anything too extravagant to spend time together. Here's a list of family-friendly parks for you to consider for your next family outing!
